Student Section?

What would you suggest to imply answers first, money later? The brochures provided the basic information...and it was brief enough to be read at a quick glance. We just want to reach out to students and encourage their support. If the fan club isnt the way you want to support than please by all means just attend the games and cheer for the FALCONS!!! In the end thats all that matters.
What about for off-campus students? Here's the questions I have right off the bat if you wouldn't mind providing an answer for them:
Will students in this group be able to sit with friends who aren't in the Flock?
Where exactly is the preferred seating located at in each venue? The main reason for this question, is that the student section in Anderson and the Doyt make up nearly half of each arena.
What do the shirts look like?
Can students Big Charge the fees?
I know it seems like I'm coming across negative, there's just a severe lack of information available on the website right now.

I think the Flock is a great idea! I don't understand why there are so many on here trashing it and complainng about the money. First of all you don't have to join. Second, all of us agree that our athletic programs need money badly and that the marketting department needs to do more to increase attendance, donor support, and nationwide recognition. The marketing department throws an idea out there and we get upset. I'm a full time student, and my wallet has been bled dry by the university, but you know what . . . it's a good thing I bleed orange and brown because I love this school! Having the oppertunity to do my part and actually donate 15 bucks and get a t-shirt is something that I'm looking forward to doing. I spend that much in 2 hours at the bars, and that just goes to the bar owners! I guess to make a long story short (too late! Gotta love the movie clue!) giving the Falcons 15 more dollars is in my eyes a great way to contribute to something that I love!
I see your Swartz is as big as mine!
I don't think the majority opinion is that it's a negative. I do think that there are a lot of questions regarding the program which need to be answered before they will get large amounts of support.

Sorry my Orange colored glasses aren't as orange as some on here. And i'm sorry Metz feels he has to question my loyalty to this school because I am simply going off of past experiences with the various parts of the department. I hope it works, and those of you who truly know me understand that. Well, I guess I had better to and take the "How to be a good Lemming" class so I can see everything Orange and Brown. CHEER THE FALCONS!!!!!

I still think that it should be first come, first serve. If you get there early enough before everybody else, then you should get that right to be up in front. Last year I was there 3 hours before the game with my friends and we were up in front and we had a blast. We don't need "The Flock". All they are getting is money from that. Why not just be more productive in telling the students to attend the games. I like the idea about having Brandon coming up and talking to the students. I live in a dorm, and I have always wondered why the players, and coaches go to EVERY dorm at least once and talk to everybody. It would cheer everybody up and it would also mean that they care for us.
Roll On!!!
its all a bunch of BS there isnt going to be any sections left by the time the band takes theres over and the "flock" gets theirs and I garuntee it will be right on the 50...who the hell wants to sit in the back corner of the end zone as a student?Metz wrote:If you aren't in the group and you get there that early, you will still be in the front row of the non-flock student section.momtartin wrote:I will not be happy if I'm at the game an hour before some other kid, and have a front row seat, then get pushed out because he's in the "flock" and I'm not, even though I was there WAY before him. I'm not saying he's not a good fan, but if I'm there before him, and I get shoved back a few rows, that isn't cool.
people are going to get screwed..it is going to be like the MACC game against Miami when they let people in and didnt tell anyone that two sections were reserved and tried to move everyone out of those sections with 10 minutes till kickoff

the point is that it is a joke. students should not have to join a group to enjoy a football game that they have already paid for in their tuition. they should be able to enjoy it as they wish and not be pushed around by a bunch of "flock" members who will think they are god just like the sideline squad used to do when they get special treatment. the majority of the students will despise them, many who are at their first game or so might not come back because they will be turned off to the idea

NO! "Lemmings" was the stage show that National Lampoon did in the early 70's that featured people like Chevy Chase, John Belushi and Christopher Guest.UK Peregrine wrote:Did someone say Lemmings? **Begin diatribe**
Can anyone around here give something a chance before they start trying to identify the potential problems that could surround this organization? How about the positives? Has it ever even crossed anyone's mind that this group could have been formed to market Falcon sports to a student body that year by year is coming into college with an increasingly consumer mindset? Do you really think that $15 dollars is intended to bloat the AD's coffers? No, its trivial in the long run. And by the same token, do you REALLY think that $15 dollars is either an a.) unreasonable ammount of money for a student to spend, or b.) an ammount that is going to preclude many people for financial reasons from being able to join the Flock? The answer is no to both of those questions, and if you do think that $15 is unreasonable, then in my humble opinion you are just bitching for the sake of bitching. Its stupid.
The fact of the matter is that, no matter how much or how little you or I can relate to it, the vast majority of students currently entering colleges respond to marketing and little else. The fact of the matter is that because of the developing consumerist mentality of college-age youth, they see little value in anything that they don't have to pay for. They are increasingly beginning to equate inherent value with monetary value. Part of this circumstance is the fact that a majority of students either a.) don't realize, and/or b.) don't care that a portion of their student fee goes to athletics. Yes, a few of you here do, but think about it - you are engaged with this University in a way that many of the students who sleep in class and party all week can and will never be able to relate to. Is it a sad state of affairs? Myself and many others would say yes. But, until something very profound happens to alter this trend, there is little that universities can do to change it, and it is a dynamic with which they must work. All the University is doing is making due with what they have, which is prudent.
There is nothing pejorative about trying to market Falcon sports in a way that an increasing majority of the student body can relate to. Will it take time to implement the program 100% effectively? Sure, but what new program in any institution or venue is flawless from the outset? What is the point of sitting around here and deriding a new group that is only intended to help generate and sustain student support for our athletic programs? A lot of you need to relax and not react to things that haven't happened yet. Wait until you get to the game to see how this program will be administrated instead of bitching about the possible ways that it can go wrong. Give it a chance - there are obviously some students who are. Don't let your piss-ass attitude ruin it for them.
Perhaps some of you should be asking yourselves why you are so resistant to change...
