Thank Goodness!
Well...We rolled Temple. But we knew that we are experts at beating the crap out of bad teams. Bring on MAC play!

Wow. Leave it to the people around here to find negatives in a 70-7 win.CapitalFalcon wrote:Well...We rolled Temple. But we knew that we are experts at beating the crap out of bad teams. Bring on MAC play!
Hell of a game all around. Not one XP missed.

I only stayed for the first half. Tickets on the East side SUCK. This all reserve seats thing sucks, gonna have to order tix ahead of time so we can sit on the west...Staring into the sun, baking, was just ready to go.
In what I saw we definitely showed up with more intensity and ready to play. I know it was Temple, which is true, but there were a number of times that I pointed out we actually played good, disciplined football. We maintained our lanes on kick coverage. We made some nice tackles. Jamien Johnson (I think) had a sweet blitz that was timed perfectly to force a fumble.
Omar was rolling. Temples secondary was awful. Seemed like every single play there were at least 2-3 guys that were WIDE open. Good job by the WRs and kudos to Omar for making the throws.
PJ Pope should NOT have been playing. He is not the same player right now. He has no explosion, and its hampering his effectiveness. No business for him to be on the field for another few games, IMO.
Met Mr. Partridge, sorry that I missed seeing that PR though
Heckuva tailgate crowd. Just PACKED. Unfortunately we weren't prepared for that sort of crowd, and we weren't able to all tailgate together
Jelanie made a good play on the ball for his first pick. Thaler got good pressure, but missed the sack. Still forced a hurried throw. Looked like Jordan might've been beat, but the throw hung up for a LONG time. Nice play on the ball by Jelani.
In all we drilled a vastly inferior team. I still cannot believe the MAC invited them in, but oh well. It was nice to see the team show up and play how we know they can. Hopefully they're re-engergized and ready for a run through the MAC!

First of all I would like to say congrats to the Falcons for the TEAM win. The D was agressive and Omar looked sharp. Much better job at managing the game by the coaches.
Now lets look at the stats of the first half because lets face it, second half was clock killing. BG controls the ball 18 mins and rushes 18 times for 77. Omar 25 thows for 270ish and 4tds. D was fresh and aggressive most of the half. Didnt like how they went 80yrds on us for the score, looked too easy.
As for some potential problems. Temple was able to get outside on the sweep to easily. The D ends were getting caught inside the tackles losing containment, however I did like the stunts by the line. Still need penatration by the front 4.
For the Offense our Line need to learn how to block in space. IE sweeps, pitches and screens. And Pope should not be playing, but that freshman should get atleast 10 touches a game
FYI Steve Sanders is a freak. The best athlete/ reciever on the team. Looks like he lost a bit of bulk and gained some speed. I like that reverse.

Anyone who can say anything bad about today's weather at the Doyt ought to have to swim laps in Poe Ditch on a cold winter day. I'm a lobster but a more beautiful day could not have been ordered.
Temple ought to give up football. I can't see the Owls being able to compete in the MAC for years to come. What a discouraging situation it must be to be a member of that program. God would have trouble turning that program around.

Does anyone actually think this game "proved" anything??? Temple's been outscored 259-56. I am extremely happy with the outcome. But it doesn't prove anything other than we continue to beat up on really bad teams. The team look sharp, they tackled, WE SCORED ON SPECIAL TEAMS, and hit all the XPs. A very good performance. But so far this year, the only two teams we have beaten have yet to win a game. I guess I just enjoy watching football GAMES not football blowouts. Why can't we play with this much excitement, fire, intensity, and precision against good teams? Why do we always fall short on the national stage? I hope that we roll through the MAC all the way to the MACC. I would love nothing better. But to sit here and think that we are not going to have a struggle is delusional. Canton McKinley could beat this Temple team.Bleeding Orange wrote:Wow. Leave it to the people around here to find negatives in a 70-7 win.CapitalFalcon wrote:Well...We rolled Temple. Next week we have Ohio. Who's going to show up? The BG team that got rolled by Boise or the BG team the blew Temple off the field and hung 42 on one of the top teams in the Big Ten??? I don't know, but I hope it's the latter.
Amen, brother, Amen. I think I am going to get to the ticket office on Monday and exchange all my flex plan voucher immediately in hopes of getting West side tickets. With that said, anybody know if you can redeem the vouchers at BGSU on Main, or do you have to go to the AA and the ticket office?hammb wrote: Tickets on the East side SUCK. All you east side haters should keep in mind that we kick off at 6pm next week and then we don't play at home agian until the 22nd. The sun shouldn't be the ungodly head toasting beast it was today.
Then again, maybe I'm just trying to rationalize my xenophobic eastsideristic point of view.
Yep...I'm an anti-westitie.

Actually, the six o'clock kickoff will make the sun worse. Yes it was hot, put I had on shorts so I was ok. The worst part of the east side sun issue is when it is "setting" behind the west bleachers. From about 6:45 to 7:15 I was wearing my hat in some awkward positions to keep the sun out of my eyes. Not a big deal today since the game was well in hand. But next week when that is still first quarter or so, I don't want to have to deal with the sun at that point in the game. Maybe it will be cloudy next week and not a issue.

The east side is tricky situation. I remember getting pelted with that sleet at last years homecoming. I had to leave early cause the then pregnant wife said she was cold and wet. But then for the Marshall game it was great because the sun was high and kept me pretty warm considering it was a cool upper 30's low 40's.
For those of you that went, how did the seating work out. I am calling for my ticket for OU this week. UK and I are driving up but he already has 3 tickets being used. Are people really paying attention to seating numbers? Will I have to sit all by myself?

The vegas line was us favored by 28 and we blew that away. If they were so horrible how come the line was "only" 28 and how come Toledo beat them "only" 42-17 and does anyone think that anyone else in this country besides USC could score 70 on Temple?....Wisconsin "only" scored 63 on them and Arizona State "only" scored 63 on them.
