I agree, there had to be more than 19,462 today :?: :?: :?: I was thinking if our capacity is now 23,000-plus, it had to be 22,000 - 23,000. Whatever the case, I hope we have that kind of turnout next Saturday vs. Ohio.

Hard to jacked up when playing Temple

But I do agree that it needs to get louder on third downs and Coach mentioned that in the press conf. I like the bell-thing, although it is a ripoff from that school in Columbus. But Coach mentioned it specifically. "We got that thrid down bell, now we got to get the crowd into it." or something like that. If the stupid announcer could say "Third Down" sooner and then the music, I think it would work better.

Yeah, crappy PA announcer tends to kill crowd noise. I didn't really notice any big mess-ups by the guy but still it was a bit un-nerving we have such a calm announcer.

It's Falcon First Down for God's Sake, GET EXCITED!!!!

I agree with others: The tailgating was as good as I've seen it. It was really a party out there -- and based on that, the attendance figure was surprising.

(But, when I think about it, we weren't really packed in on the east side.

And the crowd was not as loud as it could have been, I agree with that. Northern Illinois was loud.

Probably the loudest game I can remember is the 1991 Toledo game. When the Falcons hit big plays, the place just roared.

Hard to really get into a blow out like that.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

That was an amazing site....

I walked over to hill and climbed up to get a better view...it gave me goosebumps seeing tons of people 3 hours before the game out there.

I'm with hammb...we may have to grab some land in the grass field for future AZZ.com TG's when there isn't a tent.

I got there around 2:00 and was looking for Falcon Freak by the hill. There was so many people there that I never did see him until we were walking in the door. I am glad to hear the little Freaklet is ok. I was trying to do the falcon screech like your son all during the game and I couldn't even come close!

Also thanks to the guys who let us use their grill :D

I agree they do need nore Port o Pots in the parking lot and some sort of trash cans. I felt sorry for anyone who had to clean up that area after the game. The team practices in some of those areas and I would be concerned for broken glass etc.

Do you think the tailgating numbers had anything to do with no OSU game?

After the NIU game a few years back they mentioned on one of the news shows that the cleanup is done by local boy scout troops. A different troop every week, and they get paid some by the university. They also get to keep any aluminum and recycle that.

The story at the time was how it took that particular boy scout troop over 8 hours to do the cleanup because that game was so much bigger than normal (the gameday game), and that it wasn't worth what the university was paying them.

I don't want to make any outlandish accusations, and I don't even know if its still boy scouts who do the cleanup, but it seems as though the university is having an I don't care attitude. Kinda like, We aren't cleaning it, so what do we care. Could be wrong, but how else can they not have a SINGLE trashcan in the tailgate area?! I hope they have at least raised the amount that they pay these boy scouts (or other organizations that do the cleaning), because our tailgate messes have grown immensely.

I think tailgaiting and attendance were greatly influenced by the fact that OSU did not play on Saturday.

I talked to several people who casually mentioned they were in BG since the Bucks weren't playing.

Any responsible tailgater should bring a trash bag, and tie it up after they finish. I went by Sunday morning, and there were cups and other trash strewn all over in certain spots, obviously from those who are not very responsible. It wouldn't make much difference to these people if ther was a trash can 20' away, as they would just throw trash on the ground. These are the people that a little campus police patrol might help more than 100 more trash cans! If you can carry a 12 pack all of the way from campus to the parking lot, a garbage bag wouldn't add much to the load.
Maybe we could get someone to "sponsor" some nice ORANGE trash bags to hand out to the tailgaters.

As I was leaving town Sunday I noticed a group out cleaning up and it was a mess. That being said perhaps BG could take a play from Illinois State. I know this isn't a football mecca but there is some good tailgating here. I think there was a trash can every 50 yards and there is always a crew changing the bags and giving out bags to tail gaters. Leaving their games you would not know there was tail gating. These are crowds of 12,000-15,000 people so they are comperable to what we get at BG. It's just an idea and one more little detail to pay attention to.
