Okay, I stand corrected then. I don't mind the new ATHLETIC Logo, but I hate the retail logo.

You can take my old logo when you rip it from my cold, dead sweatshirt!

No way.

I'll be wearing my old school "I'm a member, Freddy's Friends" button with pride Saturday, in hopes that we'll return to those costumes.

Not as long as our current VPSA is here. I loved the old costumes because they were unique. Did they need replaced, yes. But with someting very similar if not exact. These things look like over grown crows. I remember the first game they were at. A bunch of kids were around them because all 4 mascots were traveling together. All the kids were crowded around the old costumes. I remember one kid, around 5 or so, asking what those (pointing at the new costumes were). When told the kid started laughing and pointing. He said "Those aren't falcons!" Then he proceeeded to give the REAL Freddie and Frieda a big hug. I wish I had that on tape. As for the logo, I would love to see the department keep the updated logo on athletic uniforms. I think the extra outline helps make if more visible. If the logo on the helmets were brown and not white that would really pop on tv. The marketing logo should be just that, a marketing tool. So I have no problem with the cheerleaders using that logo because isn't that what they do, market BGSU? We have maintained the same shape and not gotten to involved in the details which is fine by me.

From what I've seen and heard, it sounds like most alumni prefer the old Freddie and Frieda costumes, and current students are more partial to the new costumes.

I personally love the new Freddie and Frieda, and I don't think I've heard any current students say otherwise.

Honestly, I'm surprised that so many of you dislike the new mascots so much. This is the first time I've heard negative comments about them. Perhaps part of it is a nostalgia thing? Like, the old Freddie and Frieda were your Freddie and Frieda, and it only makes sense that you would prefer them over newcomers.

If I'm way off-base, let me know. The last thing I'm trying to do is pick a fight over mascots. :P

I thought the old Freddie and Frieda costumes looked "cheap" so I for one was glad to see them go with the new look mascot. But the new logo is another story....

God, what you basically have to understand is that many people on this board are opposed to anything changing to anything at BGSU prior to the Kennedy administration. I am sure there are people here that think the new Union is a blight on the campus and that the Old Union was fantastic and that tearing down Prout Hall was a travesty!

That's it! Somebody post the two pictures so we can compare then start a poll. I guess I hadn't noticed they changed.

Somebody please post old vs. new pictures of Frieda and Freddy.

Thanks.

There were many that thought that tearing down Prout hall was a travesty (I wasn't one of them) but very few, if any, thought that the Union should have stayed the way it was. Prout had to go to allow for the face lift, no question. I'll miss the bowling alley, though (we snagged a couple of pins from the alley. One we paid a pretty penny for because it's signed by Tim Conway!)

I like all the logos and but my fave will always be the traditional one.

As far as the new Freddie and Freida? I love 'em. The old ones were cool but I see nothing wrong with the new ones. The Freaklings certainly don't shy away from them.

Here's a nice little picture for contrast and comparison.

Old Freddie and Freida could also refer to these old mascots as well.
