I do have to agree...It is especially stupid b/c it shows that one kind with a beaker swirling it around with the voice over of some sort of "scientific breakthrough." Uh...Last I check, BG wasn't a research institution.
Biologically, you're mostly right. No great big medical breakthrough will come from BG, at least not in the Biology deparment. Chemistry and Physics have great departments in photochemical science and if I remember some good cancer biochem.

Also for those high school geeks watching football games, that is a potential big sell. Undergraduate research is a nice CV boost when applying for grad school. It may not be a "breakthrough" but a publication as an undergrad is a big gold star. My interviews at UK were a breeze when I told them I did research in two labs.

OK, off the soap box, I will agree that some new commercials are in need.
Either way, I agree the commercial sucks. It's time for a new one

I thought that most colleges have a French House. At least, all of the universities that I looked at when I was college-hunting in high school had them.

I remember thinking one time, "Why is it always a French house? Why not a Spanish house?"

Okay. I might be *completely* wrong.

And, after a Google, it appears I might be. MIT, Columbia, Brown, Amherst, Grinnell and Wisconsin all seem to have them, for starters.

Oops.

Am I the only one who, when they hear "French House," thinks "Daft Punk?"

:D

There's a joke to be made here about the Ankney era ...
You can't imagine how much thinking I got done during the 1990 Western Michigan game. I finished A Midsummer Night's Dream and wrote two papers. :)
