BiG Omar Story in PD

Post by jacojdm »

About 45% of the front page of today's sports section is orange, with a full length photo of Omar and accompanying story. Of course, if you go to the Plain Dealer's website, the story is buried way down the list...

http://www.cleveland.com/sports/plainde ... xml&coll=2

It focuses on how Omar uses video games as a practice aid.

Great exposure for both Omar and BGSU!!

Strolled into work today in Independence and found that some kind soul placed the PD sports section on my keyboard....Full pic of Omarvelous! Don't know who did it yet but that was very nice.

Now that's the way the work day is supposed to start!

Great article...nice exposure.

There's an Omar by the numbers section, too. This is just amazing to read some of these...

1 - Most interceptions he has thrown in a game.

3 - Games with 400 or more yards passing.

5 - His MAC record for TD passes in a bowl game.

11 - Number of games with four TD passes or more.

41 to 4 - His touchdowns-to-interceptions ratio in 2004, an NCAA single-season record.

62 to 6 - His career touchdowns-to-interceptions ratio.

50 percent - His lowest completion percentage in a game, which he did once.

86.6 percent - His highest completion percentage in a game (26-of-30 for 326 yards).

Maybe we should all take a moment to email Mr. Alexander and the PD to thank them for their coverage of MAC sports and BG.

We are quick to criticize, we should be just as quick to laud.

As I was warming my lunch in our breakroom, I over heard Omar's stats. Three guys leaning over the front page of the sports section. One guy played line for Notre Dame back in the 80's (does the last name Golic mean anything to anyone?) The other two guys are big Big Can't Count Confernce fans.

They were debating how good he was since he played in the MAC. I butted into the conversation reminding them of Omar's stats for the Wisky game. After hearing that they started to change their tune.
I reminded them that he already has over 1700 yards and only 2 interceptions. That's remarkable at any level and in any league. The three of them were IT fellas so I decieded to lay a mathmetical equation on them: AWESOME = 4K+4TD+4INT.

I left them whistling Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba! Gosh, how I love being prick.

I am sure you really told them 41 TDs and the above was just a typo.
