One of my favorite parts of the Wisconsin experience was when the marching band did some sort of polka. That was classic Wisconsin, I thought.

If we were all rooting for Parma State University, I'd suggest stealing that idea.

Not everyone in the comunity likes the tractor pull, yet if the citys police are willing to turn the same blind eye to DWI after football games that they turn on for the tractor pull ( for four days). a roaring tractor....the FULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL PPPPUUULlllllllLLLLLLLLLL!!! and ringing bells could be fun.
It would be unique to BGSU and better than dying bird shriek

I don't like the tractor pull idea, but I guess that is just my background of making fun of vt for the whole "hick" stereotype of living out in the farm country...I'd feel kinda hypocritical if I was doing it. I know it doesnt really count as tradition, but it is close, but actually stay after the game, and watch the team in the middle of the field, before they go to sing azz...that is good enough tradition for me...

I love the post-game tradition. This is more aimed at creating some noise during the game.

I know a lot of people kinda sniff and say, "real fans yell and make noise" but it's obvious that just waiting for that to happen doesn't produce consistent results. I'm not a big tractor pull fan, but it is something unique to BG.

I too don't like the tractor pull, but I am game for anything that can create noise on the opposing teams 3rd downs. Defense needs the noise to help make it difficult for the oppositions offense to get the plays across. The defense is in need of a 12th man and the fans can provide that.

Exactly! Thank you! That's the PERFECT attitude! Yes!
BelieveNBG wrote:Some mentioned this noise on offense, but the offense does not need the extra noise. Omar needs to be able to call the plays.
Correct! I'd reserve this for when the opponents face a third (or fourth) down and maybe after we score a TD before the band launches into AZZ.

I don't want to burst anybody's bubble, but I came to BG to watch a football game, and not be distracted by a rock concert. Many of the pay (maybe most of 'em) fans on the East side of the stadium were literally angered by the extreme loudness of the PA system, and quality of the announcer's voice (who doesn't really seem to understand the game) and in particular, the heavy "music" often played right up to the snap of the ball. Most of us couldn't even hear the band.

I always loved it when I announced athletic events and people would come up to the booth (uninvited) and tell us (uninvited again) the PA system was too loud

 You're at a sporting event! Of course it's loud :!: :!: :!:

The PA system probably is too loud. It's a football game, not an Ozzy show.

I'm OK with noise, but FULL PULL would be about the most annoying and demeaning thing I could possibly imagine. Most students wouldn't even know what it referred to.

Yeah, I'm not feeling that either.

Beleive me, I do understand how annoyed longtime residents are when the tractor pull crowd arrives in town. I do.

But... it is quintessentially BG.

Detroit has the big tire:

Mackinac Island has stone-skipping:

Bowling Green has the tractor pull.

Are you suggesting the thing could turn *into* something demeaning to the tractor pull crowd?

There we go that is it by golly....hang up those band uniforms....Some get on the Phone and cally OZ its time reunite Black Sabeth....we can set them in the end zone where the Sabo center is to be built, and have the band members wear shock colars and so they know when to play to play and when to stop.
great Idea.

Personally the PA system was to loud and it was distorting... which will blow it out and there will be no more anouncer, no more music.

I did not see anyone made about the music...I did see people getting upset about geting hit with totsie rolls every score.
