Would have been better if I was able to find pants which were orange and brown plaid!

You kidding? It makes me sad with no "kinda" involved. But it's exciting, too!
Just wait until you march off the field for the last time. Now that's rough.

Maybe the field will be covered in snow for your last game. When you can't feel (and I mean REALLY can't feel)your fingers, toes or nose, it makes it MUCH easier to march off the field, trust me :wink:

I loved my last game... a win at the Las Vegas Bowl. Only thing that ruined it was that I was getting my pictures taken with my graduation cap on (as I was on the ladder) and Sparky yelled at me...

anyway, it was still a fantastic last game... missed walking graduation to do it!

Of course, I became a band road groupie the next year... but that's beside the point.

If I remember correctly, I was a tad ambivalent when I first got off the field for my last home game. Sure, I was sad that I would never again don the FMB uniform. I guess it was because I was finally done with Sparky (farging cork-socker).

Sparky = farging cork socker.

Do you remember the last show, Delaine? We conducted speakers and the band got shot at by streamers weighted down by inch and a half washers. Not the most pleasant of experiences.

Oh, and Sparky was a farging cork socker.

Wasn't funny at the time. I was livid!

The only good part was gathering my Christmas list. There was a dance team there and I was walking down the line asking the girls for their names. They asked me what I was doing, so I told them. I believe it was one of the only times in my life I was endering.

I didn't find marching off the field for my last time that difficult. As bad as it sounds, it felt good to march off the field for the last time in Alabama in December. Personally, the hardest part for me was when the seniors sang the Alma Mater after the Toldedo game. What was harder yet was when we played the Alma Mater at the Sounds of the Stadium Concert. Made it 4 notes before I had to stop playing.

I don't think I'll cry, if only because it won't seem real.

We'll see about afterwards. :oops:
