Are you sure? He wasn't four years younger. Check your tapes, babe.

Speaking of Buffo, don't they normally make some sort of appearance- however small- at Homecoming? I didn't see anything this year :( Is this because no more were ever selected? I always thought that it was the alumni Buffo who made sure we had our fill of Tootsie Rolls at Homecoming.

It was never an "official" appearance- always something covert. One year they placed a big plastic bag of Tootsie Rolls on the scaffolding with a note "Welcome Back Alumni! Love, Buffo" or something to that effect. It even made the band video! I couldn't believe that slipped by Toney and Moss.

RUIT, your memory's not wrong about Mr. Srail. He and his ever-growing famiy reside in suburban Cleveland. (They welcomed their fourth child this year)

To end the confusion of who this is - it is Jeff.

I just really hate that the Buffo tradition is fading away. I haven't seen Buffo at any events since they were put on "hiatus" by Dr. Moss.

In hearing about the "Clue" game jesture that got Buffo in trouble, Chief said, "Maybe she needed a clue."

I was wondering if the Buffo box is housed with another older Buffo with the initials JB that plays a clarinet. (Not that I will hold this clarinet thing against him.)

Chief and I have spoken about this. It was at Ohio gal's wedding, as a matter of fact. In fact, Chief used the same phrase you quoted, Jeff. The kids in question offerred an apology and that should have been enough for forgiveness. To offer the death sentence based on an isolated incident is rediculous.
I just believe the event in question was a simple excuse to get rid of a nuisance as seen by certain members of band administration.

I'm going to let this go for right now because it really get's under my skin.

I wonder if those certain members (singular..ehem) have any idea how much of a positive gesture it would be to allow Buffo to return. Buffo is a far bigger deal to those who were around at the time than the band staff seems to know. Allowing them back would be HUGE when it comes to relations with the alumni who were around when Buffo was. I think that the alumni want the current band to know and appreciate what Buffo does for the band. It was great fun (from both sides of the mask  )

If the whole issue was the visits to the directors home the night before performances, I'm quite sure that could be worked out. It's my understanding that it was one of the bigger reasons Moss didn't like them. I don't know this first hand, but it's been mentioned in the past.

Without naming names, that's what I reason the primary "inconvenience" to be.

Buffo is gone - never to return. That is what was wanted and that is what has happened.

I believe the Buffo box is in possession of someone with the initials JB that plays the trumpet. Or is that what instrument you really meant?

Has anyone actually tried to resurrect Buffo, officially? Buffo was axed the year before I came to BG, and I can't remember ever hearing about anyone trying to bring it back? I could be mistaken, of course.

I tried and tried to get the person who still has the Buffo box to get things going again but Buffo appears to be no more...
