2 years ago was very similar. UT finished 7-1, as did NIU. We finished at 6-2 after the loss at the Glass Bowl. UT won the tiebreaker based on their win in Dekalb.

My only hope is that the tiebreakers go (1) head-to-head, (2) overall vs. MAC and division, and (3) overall record. In my scenario, 1 and 2 would not determine it, so OOC record would decide it. With a win at Temple, we would go 2-1, while NIU and UT would each be 1-2 (assuming UT beats Temple tonight). This is probably not the way it is decided, but I can only hope.

I don't know what the next factor is after head-to-head, I assume next is something about MAC play (probably in the division, then cross-divison), but I highly doubt it has anything to do with OOC games. I could be wrong, but I highly doubt it does. That would not even be fair because OOC schedules vary from Top-25 teams to I-AA teams and I don't see how any of that would determine who gets an advantage out of that.
