Hate to say I told ya so...

but this team will never be good until we get some size (and DISCIPLINE) on the front line. Not only did we get manhandled up front and blown off the ball, our DE's lost backside contain on nearly every play. Even when the RB did take the ball into the hole the cutback lane was there if he had wanted it. Absolutely terrible play by our DL.

We lose yet another game because we get mauled up front. I'm tired of everyone defending the philosophy of an undersized DL. It's stupid and you'll never beat these sorts of teams with it. We beat NIU last year because our offense stopped their running game, not our defense. I'll have to dig up the stats sometime in the next couple days, but when you examine our losses over the past 3 years I guarantee it is a frightening trend of getting run on by good running teams. WHY? We get dominated in the trenches against power teams. And we will continue to do so until we get some size up front. Like it or not, size is a skill. I'd kill for at least one 325 pound fat ass that would just plug up that middle for us right now.

Oh yeah, Brandon got outcoached in another big game.

Sorry, but I am still not sold that he is the guy to take us to the next level.

Brandon is over rated as a head coach! He made no adjustments in the game. I don't understand how BG had two weeks to prepare for this important game and NIU only had 6 days. Yet it looked like Novak was just playing games with Brandon. Iowa St scored almost 50 on NIU and BG's high octane offense couldn't even get in the endzone at 1st and inches.

BG has talent, but Brandon is no big time coach. There is a reason why he never got a head coaching job before. Once Meyer's talent runs out BG is in big trouble!!!
Sooner or later its the SOONERS!!

I'm used to seeing teams successfully run at us. NIU killed us running away from us. That's what bothers me the most. The strength of our defense is supposed to be our quickness to the ball and our ability to bring numbers in pursuit. To get that you expect to trade off some bulk up front.
We didn't stop them when they went at the strength of our defense!

We didn't cover anything. They beat us going at us, they beat us running the edges. They beat us going deep, they beat us going to the intermediate passes. They beat us on everything.

We had TWO DBs with pursuit angles on Wolfe during his first TD run and neither one of them came close to catching him. It wa slike they were running on mud. We had no pass rush to speak of either. Agsain, you figure if you have smaller DT's they be able to get some pressure upfield. It wasn't there. You'd hope Crossley and Parks could rush the edges hard and use their quickness. We didn't get that either.

We didn't adjust to anything NIU did on either side of the ball. They kept running the same plays, we kept using the same defensive sets. ON offense we had no energy. I like the phrase "no sense of urgency" it certainly describes what happened last night. Everyone, from the coaches to the kickers got their asses handed to them last night. I must say the ass hat sure did fit well. lThis just continues the streak of playing poorly on the road against the teams we measure ourselves against. USF, NIU and UT in 2002, Miami in 2003 and NIU again in 2004.

We're never going to be taken seriously as a quality mid major program if we can't win some road games against good opposition.

Fire the coach!

Post by BGorDeath »

We were outcoached! We didn't know what we were doing! I saw the coach swearing on the sideline! Our players were making too many mental mistakes! We are being out recruited! We have players in trouble with the law! We have been losing too many games that we should win!

FIRE THE COACH NOW! Our program is in a downward spiral that cannot be stopped! Let's do something before we become a national disgrace!

Wait a minute...I'm sorry...I thought I was in the basketball forum with reading the other posts. My bad.

No one can blame Coach B. and gete on his back for one stinking loss. How easy we forget last year and the success we had. It's one loss. Get over it.

Oh, and leave Dakich alone, too.

He did two things that Utah (or ND/OSU/Michigan) guy didn't do - won the MAC West and the Motor City Bowl

After all the post game bitching, we needed a little humor...thanks!!! That was great!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

No offense to the young man, but Derrick Markray is 323 pounds and currently stuck behind other guys on the O-line. He was a highly-recruited O-lineman out of Detroit, but with the guys were currently have and the fab 5 from last year getting bigger, I don't know when this guy is going to get playing time on the O-line. Why not move him to defense and be our version of Ted Washington?

Good thought, but things seem to work the other way here. Once a guy gets too big, he is moved from defense to offense. Remember Andy Grubb came here as D-Lineman and look where he is now. Do you think it would be better to have his 300 lb frame on the D-line now? Just asking the question, I don't know the answers. But given the size of our D-line and LB, you would think quickness would be the asset they bring to the game since they certainly don't have the size. But the quick little back (Wolf) ran right through our undersized front seven. :x I am so confused! :?
