It is true that the old astroturf stuff was hard and there were a lot of serious injuries because of it. However, the stuff that is used today is much more technically advanced and cuts down on injuries.
There the field turf and nexturf stuff that is used today feels and looks a lot like grass. It is nothing like the old artificial surfaces.
NeXturf does tend to get slippery in the rain, but two things - NeXturf is not really being used anwhere anymore like it was 5 years ago. Only UT and WMU still have it. 2nd, grass fields are much worse in the rain because they get muddy which makes it slippery and even a bit bumpy in places.
Field Turf does not get that slippery in the rain, but it still does a little. When it rains it doesn't matter what surface you have, it is going to be somewhat slippery.
Michigan and Michigan State did switch to artificial surfaces. Michigan finally did because their grass field kept getting chewed up with the great weather we have in the MidWest and they finally had enough of it.
Even though Ohio State plays on PAT, which a a type of natural grass playing surface with a state of the art built in drainage system that most natural grass stadiums do not have, they did have an artificial surface for 20 years before this surface.
There is a reason that the large majority of college stadiums are using artificial surfaces.

You might want to have a conversation with your athletic trainer for football, because I have heard him say that your turf is not in good shape, and he has issues with it as far as injuries go. Just a heads up!
Only in the bg-UT rivalry could a thread start with a guy congratulating the other school's team on a great effort and end with the same guy being called a dildo. We're just a classy bunch of guys, eh?

The classiest, you dildo.

Yeah, I just happened upon this thread again for the first time in about four days, and I kept asking myself as I read it "what happened?" Everyone was playing nice and then someone started throwing legos and pudding, and now we have three pages of namecalling.
Phew. I thought there was something wrong!

It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan
I've said it before and I'll say it now, complaining about playing football on grass is the top of a slippery slope that bottoms out in a domed stadium named after a bank.

Talk about envy geez how many threads about BG are going to be on the Toledo board? The only time people bring up TU on this board is when one of their fans starts a thread.
