From a faciltiy standpoint. The Doyt and the Ice house both have some issues, that come from age. The school has been taking care of some other things, but i can see the Doyt being reskined to dress it up and make it fresh again, as well as adding perminate matching concreet stands in the south endzone happening before a new facility is built. The basic design structure of the Doyt is very atractive in my opinion.
A new ice house i am guessing is higher on the list, than a stadium rehab.

The Ice Arena will not be razed, but a new "convocation center" is very possible. Bowling Green HS along with some other local teams use the ice, and it's a wonderful smaller practice facility.

I have to take off my orange glasses to say this, but the Doyt is in bad condition and desperately needs a lot of the concrete repaired. Hopefully some of the "Building Dreams" campaign includes repair work.

Are you a structural engineer, or something?

You don't need to be to know that things need repaired. There are multiple places where the concrete has crumbled away to exposed rebar. I doubt very seriously that these are causing any structural integrity issues, but they sure do look like hell.

The Doyt needs work, most of it cosmetic, but it does need work. So long as they keep the grass field, I can live with the cosmetic issues.

You went where I was going.

Maybe I'm just cranky today, but people complaining about Doyt Perry Stadium are really wearing on me. The issues are cosmetic. They are not structural.

BGSU will get to them when they can. Getting the Sebo Center done is more important right now. Does anyone disagree with that proposition?

Funds are limited, hence the need for priorities. Sebo is, obviously, priority #1.

Here's a thought, too. Once the Sebo is built, the other cosmetic shortcomings will appear more glaring by comparison. That might make it easier to create a sense of urgency in the fund-raising area.

indoor practice facility

TU envies our indoor practice facility and non-inner-city campus environment, so they massively embellish a relatively minor occurance on our facility that was quickly rectified. IMO, their canned criticisms about our colors being "ugly" and such don't deserve to be dignified.

Seriously though, are you guys going to be getting an indoor practice facility? Toledo has one in the works, as part of the renovation to Savage Hall. Construction should start within 6-9 months from what I heard.

did BG's fieldhouse fall down last night?

and as far as the renovation to savage hall...
are you talking about making all of the seats color-coordinated? when you're inside the arena it looks terrible. it kind of looks like the colors of a bag of skittles (all the colors of the rainbow.)

don't worry... TU bball doesn't get much TV time. you don't have to alter the seats to make it look like a full arena.

sorry. i hate getting "nit-picky" but ign'int people with an ign'int education from ign'int schools just get me so gosh darn riled up.

I don't see how pointing out the obvious (crumbling concrete) is "bitching." The athletic department has pointed out this will need to be repaired soon, so what's the problem?

Clearly there are mostly cosmetic things that can be done to spruce the old place up.

Structurally the biggest problan at the Doyt is getting people up and down the ramps into the stands. They're too narrow, or there aren't enough of them.

For a big game, you are absolutely right. Excellent point.

When BGSU gets around to building an upper deck, I'm sure we can address this issue. :)

We've had one since the mid-1990s.

when we sell out every home game for a couple of seasons we can talk about building an upper deck.

for now just put a SICSIC poster over all of the cracks. no one will notice

TJ, Rocketville is a strange, bizarre place with mustard yellow Stan Joplin suits, medieval castle stadium borders and hard core urban decay greeting every exit...not anything I want a part of. No brown and orange color joke offends me enough to delve into that world.
