BC up 6-4............

Post by Falconboy »

Man , everytime I get a score update from radio , BC is up 2 more goals. We trying desperatly to get back in it with goals from Matsumoto and Sitko, but we're definitly outmatched as we're getting pounded. If we can make this close or tie it. I'l be happy. BC isn't the #4 team in the nation for nothing.

You know, we don't need a new thread everytime the score changes.

Well, we're outshooting them 25-24. Looks like wonder frosh Jimmy Spratt got a little baptism by fire. But as you said, the offense is trying to hang with. Getting two back after going down 6-2 is a great sign, showing there's no quit!!! Besides, still PLENTY of hockey left...

6-5... this has to be a HELL of a game to be at. Hope the crowd is full and loud!

I hope to get over there at the start of the 3rd period. since you can get in free then. 6-5 now , thats good effort by BG. If we can keep it up we can make this close down to the wire and see if we can't get lucky.

I think you can usually sneak in during the third, yeah.

Gametracker messed with me, I didn't realize Matsumoto had a hat trick. Sweet!

The guys bounced back very well from lastnight. I would like to believe they learned that they can get on the ice and skate with anyone, and as they mature over the course fo the season and gell more consistantly they will come out on top of these games. At times while listening on the raido it was hard to believe that this was not 1980.

For BC i think they were reminded that you can never let up in a game and for them the were fortunate to recover. BC showed some real maturity by being able to regain the momentum.

As for our Raido anouncers, i must say, i have always enjoyed the young unpolished voices that come over the air waves, when I can not make a game. its not like listening to the raido, but more like listening to your friends while your at the game.

i think we are in for treat of a season.

Good analysis of the game! I thought the guys played toe to toe with one of the top ranked teams in the country and NEVER, EVER gave up!! They played their butts off last night. Most nights that you score 6 goals, you expect to win the game. That offense bodes well for the future. Matsumoto having a hat trick was awesome....though you wouldn't have known it in the rink, the announcer never said a thing....not that you would have heard it or understood it anyways.... (...that rant is for another thread to be coming....)

Up next.....Top ranked SCMUCKEYES!!!!.....BRING 'EM ON, BABY!!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Definitely have to give props to the guys. They definitely played their butts off last night against a VERY good team. That BC team was big & fast, with great skill.

It appears that our style requires our goalie to make at least one or two of the outstanding saves a game. Obviously that's not planned, but we seem to concentrate a lot on offense, which makes for some exciting hockey, but we have a tendecy to leave our goalie out to dry once in awhile. Neither goalie seemed to have it last night to make those huge saves. Hopefully it was just an off night.

The PowerPlay looked great last night, thogh!

We also seemed to struggle to get control of the puck when they set up their offense. Seemed as though they were able to control the puck in their end for long stretches at times. Of course BC is clearly a very talented team, so hopefully that was an aberration.

I, for one, think it says volumes about where Spratt is at in his development as a DI goalie for him to have gotten the start against a team like BC when we already have a goalie who has been thrown in the fire of Yost on two different ocassions. Yes, Jimmy struggled, but for him to have even been there in the first place, for me, speaks volumes about him.

If he is truly that good, we could be pleasantly suprised with how this season ends up...

Not the results we wanted but from the people that know, sounds like we have a team that will skate their tails off to get a W. Good things will happen for teams that bust tail. Ohio State....nuff said. I wanna beat that school in anything and everything.

If anything is going to hold this team back, it'll be goaltending/defense. Our offense is scary good (like I said after Windsor) but the goaltending is going to be something that will define this season. We need an established goalie and need to put everything behind him.

My choice? The Senior Horrell.

I really think Spratt would have been better off playing Friday night instead of Saturday. The last two goals he allowed should have been stopped. Over the right shoulder then over the left shoulder. NO traffic in front of him either time. By the time he even turned his head to follow the puck it was behind him. He'll get there eventually. He just needs some more time.
