As a pure runner, maybe Lane gets a slight edge, but PJ brings a great running game as well as receiving to the table.

The edge to Lane.....

Post by Falconboy »

Purly cuz he's not injured right now. Lane is definilty better at juking out players and has better speed. Pope is the better do-everything-player with blocking and recieving. Frankly, I think Bobby Thomas will be better than both of them.

I thought the same thing, but then I figure BJ Lane is a damn fine back that, while it wasn't due to injury, sat patiently outside the limelight for three years while PJ Pope racked up the numbers and the name for himself. He had a huge day today, is having a big year, and he deserves the props.

But you're right, there's no reason PJ's accomplishments should be overlooked.

No...

no explanation should be needed, PJ could be the most important piece of our offense, he's no doubt top 3-4 on our team

I think PJ is overall better, but there's only a slight drop off with Lane.

I am going with Lane because from the beginning I thought Lane was better. However, I dont think the spread complements his ability. For this offense led by Omar, Pope when healthly is a better fit. But give me a TE and a FB and I take Lane any day of the week.

Lane has his moments but if Pope was 100% right now this thread would be deleted...

It's great that we have two great backs. It's really nice that with out Pope out, that we really havn't lost a step with Lane. My answer to the poll is "Which ever one is on the field, he's the one doing the most damage to the opposing defense."

As of now Lane has the spotlight due to Pope's injury. But BJ Lane has definitely risen to the challenge and has stated a case as a RB for BGSU.

I can't wait until Pope is healthy enough to run a two-back set. I hope the coaches institute a two-back set.

But for now, I just hope Lane stays healthy and keeps on the pace he is going.

GO BG!

No, but Lane is a find RB. And Bobby Thomas did well in relief of Lane.

BJ is a solid back....and it's great to have quality depth. But PJ is a bit better overall, IMO.
