I know we're in the East now....
I know we control our own destiny....
I know we shouldn't look too far ahead....
However, looking at what has happend thus far and looking at the future schedules for others in the MAC, I can see us playing CMU in the MACC. They are playing well right now (3-1 MAC west) AND they have both Turdledo and NIU at HOME.
The next few weeks are going to be very intersting, I must say.
That could certainly happen yes. I am more concerned about the rest our of season though. I hope the team continues to work hard and that we go into the Miami game still undefeated in the MAC. I have my reservations about our ability to win in Oxford this year. So, if we loose that game, it will probably come down to having beating UT at the Doyt for the East crown and most likely a bowl bid.
I do like our chances but I don't get too excited yet.
87,
You know there is one sure way to get us to the MACC. Any chance you and Noah can keep the streak alive and join us at the Doyt for the TU game?
That, I must say, would be most excellent!!!

Thanks for giving me a chance to recount a little story ...
Noah & I have talked about how the home team has, more often than not, won this game. So after BG lost last year, Noah asked when Bowling Green would play AT Toledo again. I told him it would be in 2006. He said that he wanted to go to that game ... because that way the Falcons would win.
If our hopes for a MAC East title hinge on this year's game, though, I may have to make last-minute travel arrangements.

I'm with you guys. I'm very excited about the position we are in right now, but the idea of facing a must win against Toledo to win the MAC East and getting to the MACC would make me a nervous wreck. As for the possibility of facing CMU, I personally would like that much more than NIU or Toledo. CMU is enjoying a fine season and playing very well, but they don't scare me like NIU or UT would at this time. CMU has won some big MAC road game like at Miami (something we haven't done in a decade) and at Akron, but has lost at home to EMU.
The great thing in all of this is, BG just needs to keep on winning and it won't matter who else does what. If BG wins, we're in, if we start falling, it could be heartbreak all over again. So first, let's beat WMU. They've also had two weeks to prepare for us and they will give us a much better game than they did last year.

No faith? we'll handle Miami. they are down this year. they may play well against us I believe we'll put it off...but for now 42-10 BG over WMU
I have faith but let's be realistic here. Miami is getting stronger as the weeks go by and I have yet to be sold on the idea that we can win a big game like this on the road. I hope we do but all I can say is that late in the season winning games on the road is not easy. That's why I believe it will come down to beating the turds at our place on 11-22 to get into the title game.
I am really not worried. Miami still has to play Ohio in Athens. That will be a war. If we would happen to get beat again down there they may be banged up enough to let Ohio win. It's a long way off and I don't think we will worry about things getting that tight but as much as not having a home game until October sucked the scheduling Gods may have been smiling on us after all.

I'll be the first to donate to the fund. I believe in the streak!

History should tell you to never bet against the Rockets. We seem to find a way to win the West all the time. In fact, the only time we didn't play in the MACC since 2001 was in '03 when BG represented the West and we all know BG is in the East now. Rockets win the West, regardless of what happens at the Doyt in November.
I can understand your confidence, rf, but CMU was able to beat Miami in Oxford. Until someone knocks UT outta first in the West, the Rockets are the best bet. NIU keeps talking every year but beat UT first.
Again, looks like we are on a collision course!
