Who Wins!!!!!
Everyone says Northern now has the inside track, which I totally have to agree but I was wondering this question. Who wins the MAC is this is the scenerio.
Northern Wins out, Except against TURDLEDO.
Sep 4 at Maryland L, 23-20
Sep 11 vs Southern Illinois W, 23-22
Sep 18 at Iowa State L, 48-41
Sep 24 vs Bowling Green W, 34-17 Div-win
Oct 2 vs Akron (W) X-Div Win
Oct 9 at Central Florida (W) X-Div-win
Oct 16 vs Central Michigan (W) Div-win
Oct 23 at Western Michigan (W) Div-win
Oct 30 at Ball State (W) Div-win
Nov 9 vs Toledo (L) Div-lost
Nov 20 at Eastern Michigan (W) Div-win
Northern Finished 8-3 overall, 1-2 OCC, 7-1 in the Conference. (5-1 in Div, 2-0 in other divsion).
TURDLEDO wins everygame, including beating Northern, but losing to Bowling Green.
Sep 4 at Minnesota L, 63-21
Sep 11 at Kansas L, 63-14
Sep 18 at Eastern Michigan W, 42-32 (W) Div-win
Sep 25 vs Temple W, 45-17
Oct 2 vs Ball State (W) Div-win
Oct 9 at Western Michigan (W) Div-win
Oct 16 vs Ohio (W) X-Div-win
Oct 23 vs Central Michigan (W) Div-win
Nov 2 at Miami (OHIO) (W) X-Div-win
Nov 9 at Northern Illinois (W) Div-win
Nov 23 vs Bowling Green (L) Div-Loss
Toledo would finish up. 8-3, 1-2 OCC, 7-1 in Conference. (5-1 in Div, 2-0 in other divsion).
And now if Bowling Green wins out its schedule.
Sep 4 at Oklahoma L, 40-24
Sep 11 vs SE Missouri State W, 49-10
Sep 24 at Northern Illinois L, 34-17
Oct 2 at Temple (W)
Oct 9 at Central Michigan (W) Div-win
Oct 16 vs Ball State (W) Div-win
Oct 23 at Ohio (W) X-Div-win
Oct 30 vs Eastern Michigan (W) Div-win
Nov 6 vs Western Michigan (W) Div-win
Nov 13 vs Marshall (W) X-Div-win
Nov 23 at Toledo (W) Div-win
Bowling Green would finish 8-3 overall, 1-2 OCC, 7-1 in the Conference. (5-1 in Div, 2-0 in other divsion).
So who would be conference champ?
Northern beat Bowling Green, but Toledo beat Northern and BG beat Toledo. Then it would go to the next tie breaker.
Next tie breaker would be Cross Divisional Games, each team is 2-0.
Next tie breaker would be OCC games, each school would be 1-2.
This may be the year where it comes down to total points and total opponets points, and combines win/loss percentage of opponets and their opponets, very similar to the BCS standings.

Re: Who Wins!!!!!
BG would be 2-1 OOC in your scenario. Although I would not want to be around NIU & UT fans if our winning the west came down to the fact that we beat Temple & SEMObgsufan1972 wrote: Next tie breaker would be OCC games, each school would be 1-2.

Trying to verify tie-breaker scenerio, but I am 100% certain it is head-to-head, then cross division record, then OCC record. Our game against a DIV-2 school and Northern game against a Div-2 school may get thrown out. If so BG would be 1-1 OCC against Div-1 schools, Northern 0-2, against Div-1 schools, and Toledo 1-2 against Div-1. Again giving BG the win!!!
So this Temple game is HUGE!
So this Temple game is HUGE!
RE Who Wins
Does anyone know if the point differential includes all games or just MAC games? If it includes all games, Toledo better get its "high-powered" offense in gear pretty quick to overcome the two lopsided losses they began the year with.
As weird as this seems, this senario is not at all out of the question. I think a lower level MAC team is going to jump up and bite one of BG, NIU, or UT and essentially knock them out before the end of the season. Hopefully our coaches can keep the players focused as the season progresses. Every game is basically a must win from here on out.

Thats the worst part about this theory, NIU needs to take a loss to Toledo, and think, if its not Toledo, say UCF somehow upsets them in Orlando, then NIU beats UT, they still win the west. If the huskies beat Toledo, I think they are golden.

I could be wrong, but if Toledo beats NIU and we beat Toledo, I don't think that matters completely. If our records all end in ties, NIU still beat us and have the advantage. Even if Toledo doesn't win any other games but NIU, NIU still has that win over us and I think that puts them in the MACC. Really though, it is too early to be thinking about this. NIU could lose every game from hear on out so until it gets down to the end, I don't think we can really assume how it will work out.
McMetz:
Stop for a minute. In the scenario above, we're all tied. So even though NIU beat us, they lost to Toledo. If it were just the two teams, Toledo gets the nod. But the X-factor is that BG has the same record and beat Toledo. Again, if it were just two teams, no problem, BG gets the nod. The three-way tie creates a round-robin effect and the need for another tiebreaker.

If we all have the same record with us beating Toledo and NIU losing to Toledo, we win the West because there is no actual tie breaking game and the round robin effect gives it to us? If so, I don't mind that at all being a BG fan! I was just thinking that since NIU beat us, the only way for us to get in over them, is for them to have one more loss than us if we win out which would mean NIU would have to lose twice. But yeah, I got what you are saying now...
I don't think they use "chronological order of wins" until the 57th tiebreaker, and it rarely gets that far. (The "squirrel fights" at the 56th tiebreaker usually settles it.McMetz811 wrote:I could be wrong, but if Toledo beats NIU and we beat Toledo, I don't think that matters completely. If it's gonna come down to squirrel fights, we need toimport some of the Canadian black squirrels that took over the Kent campus. They look TOUGH!
There's actually a website somewhere that details the nature of the squirrel population on campuses accross the US. IIRC, the squirrels in Dekalb are so used to having people around that they'll crawl accross your feet.
I want an immediate investigation into Friday's game. I think that Wolfe was just a giant shaved squirrel. He looked to quick to be a human

This all assumes of course that the 3 of us, (UT, BG, NIU) only lose to each other, and that there are no upsets in the west, and we beat Marshall and UT beats MU (UCF cant beat NIU) so there is yet ANOTHER advantage for NIU, thier cross over game is a lot easier than ours or bancroft high's.
bancroft has to go to Western, which they always seem to play the better teams int he MAC a little closer. and @OU. Now b4 you laugh, after the first few weeks, OU had a significant lead in the vast majority of defensive stats for the whole MAC. and if ut's O struggles at all, they could be hurting since they opt to play without a Defense.....not to mention the Mu game is in oxford.
Our falcons may have it a little better than my school does, Western and the ross over with the thundering turd at home, but same thing with the OU game, we go there, and if we choke in the redzone like at NIU, OU could shut us down with their D.....then of course we go to the glass bowl... this year.
NIU also has to go to Kzoo. and Orlando, these are probably the only chances they have left to lose to a not toledo team this year.
I guess if NIU is going to make a run for the MACC, this would be the year to "let" them. They have a suprememly favorable schedule comparitivley. And they already got past the first, and probably biggest hump by thumping us good and proper.
that 3 way tie situation doesnt sound too far fetched now that you say it, I think the hardest part will be us beating toledo rather than them beating NIU...... ut is just too good at dragging us down to their level and beating us with their experiance in the no class bowl....its like arguing with an idiot.
It would be kinda shady to win the west based on the fact that we beat SEMO and Temple....but UT got Kansas ans temple, which isnt a whole lot better....NIU would have a right to be mad... But at a whole, our OOC schedule was harder to sweep than either NIU or UT, but at the same time, the easiest to win 2 of 3.
But I wouldnt feel bad giving my old "friends" crap about how they are in toledo not playign for the MAC title while we were......no matter how we won it.

The tie breaker is WAY TOO COMPLICATED to even think about
1. Head to head competition. We would all be 1-1
2. Winning percentage vs ranked conference teams (top to bottom, regardless of division; vs common opponents, regardless of number of times played.) This means ranking the MAC teams from 1-14 and comparing the winning percentage against the best team and going down. for example, losing to Buffalo and beating UT and NIU would get you the title since you wou be undefeated against the best teams. Seem a little crazy for that to happen. None the less, if NIU loses to UT and we beat Ut, then we are all exactly the same.
3. Sport specific component (if there is one). Don;t know what this is, but it potentially could be a point differential issue.
4. Coin flip.
We are way too far away from having to worry about this all anyway.

It's Simple
We're not going to no Mac Championship game without NIU losing twice in the West and us winning out, thats really what it all comes down too.
