I have no doubt Palmer can beat the Pittsburgh secondary, but every Bengal fan I know has doubts that Palmer can beat any secondary in a two-minute-drill with the game on the line. When he shows that ability, I'll be scared of the Bengals. Cincinnati had the Steelers beat twice last year and Palmer gave the game away each time.

As far as the Bengals almost beating JAX, could they have done it with out Palmer and CJ? I realize that almost winning means nothing. But Pittsburgh almost beating JAX without their top 2 offensive players (not to mention the unquestioned leaders of the team) made me feel pretty good about the North this year.

THAT WAS LAST YEAR. He is a mature, complete player this year I think he has shown that. I think the Bengals as a team have shown that. They just showed this week they can win the close games, and that Palmer can remain poised, the game winning TD to CJ for example. it wasnt a 2- minute drill but he did what he had to do to win. Be afraid of the Bengals.

YES. Kitna was very good two years ago. I dont think he should have lost his job to Palmer yet last year. Kitna led them to an 8-8 record maybe? he was having his best season ever. Rudi Johnson is a stud. Houshmendazadeh is very talented. and they have a rookie WR who looks promising..he scored a TD or two against Jax. They are a deeper ball club than you give them credit for.

I will believe Carson has matured and is clutch when I see him perform with the game on the line. He can put 50 points up on the Chicagos and Tennessees of the world every week for all I care. The moment he wills his team to victory at the end of a game as opposed to throwing picks for touchdowns is the moment I recognize the Bengals as a legitimate contender.

Right now they are a good team. If he can show that quality, they can become a contender for the superbowl. That's a lot of credit to give to the worst team in the NFL over the last decade, and Bengal fans should be proud that many experts are ready to concede that notion.

Maybe Palmer has "It" right now and is just waiting for the opportunity, and maybe he doesn't. The point is I haven't seen "It" yet. Maybe I will this week.

Maybe it is time you turn a Bengals game on from time to time...he has battled through tough games agianst tennessee, and Houston gave em a decent game....he did not lose the Jax game..that loss was not on him..run defense killed bengals for one..Palmer put up a lot of points on a tough jax D

he is for real wether you belive or not...your obviously a biased Pitt fan..i am not a biased bengals fan.i have said many times that i am a dolphins fan..but i believe in the bengals and how they have turned things around dramatically.

Yeah but he didn't win it either. That's what I'm saying. Here's a stat -- 5-19. That's the combined record of the teams Palmer has "matured" against this year. I'll give him credit when credit is due, but I still haven't seen him will his team to victory.....and neither have you because he hasn't done it yet. Palmer's chance to convince me and the rest of the world that he has made it comes against arguably the best D in the league this Sunday.

Look -- he's a good quarterback with the potential to be a star. But I will not concede he's "for real" as you so descriptively put it until I see him pull a Josh Harris and will the Bengals to victory down the stretch against a quality opponent. Yes, I'm a Pittsburgh fan but I'm not biased in how I view things. For example, I hate OSU with every fiber of my being, but I have said I think they are the best team in the B11 this year, and certainly better than the Wolverines (who I have rooted for from birth). I hate the Browns even more but I can admit they are on the right track to respectability with the recent administrative hires and this year's improved draft performance.

Just because I don't see things the same way you do, doesn't mean I'm just a biased fan who doesn't know anything. Again, I am repeating an opinion I have heard from at least 5 die-hard Bengal fans I know. I don't think they're biased against Palmer.

I think he may be talking about me aaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnddddddddddddd... he's right.
Palmer has yet to present a gamedeciding two-minute drill. He has run it effectively at the half. But never at the end of the game. Kitna had the same problem.

why is this in "other schools" anyway?

he hasnt really had to yet. they have been in the lead every game except JAX..dont write him off just because he hasnt had to do it. He may have came back and won the JAX game but (i may be wrong on this part because i dont totally remember but) didnt Chris Perry or a WR or something fumble the ball? i think i remember they were driving with a chance to win? i am not sure but for some reason i have that in my head..

anyways if that is indeeed how it ended..thats not plamers fault he had em going. he showed he was able to keep em moving to win the game..
he brought em back from behind against Tennessee. that shows somethng..

i jsut dont think he should be written off without really having the chance to prove himself.. when he fails his team more than he helps him then i will agree with you and write him off as well.

the only question in my mind is this.

How is chad Johnson going to customize the end zone dance this week?

Cincy 24- Pittsburgh 10

willie parker turning out to be a joke.
Big ben gonna play?

big ben and hines are both expected to play.

And I never said anything close to writing him off. I just don't think he should be anointed an elite QB until he proves he has that skill. He had plenty of chances last year and didn't come through.

Like I said before, if he can show he has that "Elway" ability, I will put him right up there with the top QB's in the league.

it was palmer who fumbled the ball with about 1:20 left to play.

Yeah I think I remember that play. I haven't seen tons of bengals games (I probably saw 7 or 8 last year plus a couple this year), but in the games I have seen in which the outcome is dependent on Palmer down the stretch, he has choked blatantly. He threw a TD to pittsburgh to lose one of those games last year and I believe he threw a pick six in the other as well.

He'll have a big chance to redeem himself on Sunday. On a very happy note, the game will be carried by the local CBS station which means I actually get to watch the Steelers on my big screen as opposed to at a bar :) This also means I can DVR the game and watch it again after it's over like I do with televised BG games. Me = happy panda.

chris henry will get one before 85. shayne graham will have to kick at least 3 field goals. but as long as the bengals win, i don't care who scores. one thing is for sure: it will be one hell of a game!
