2-2 Tie
Tonight's game was definitely a fun one to watch. First off I was definitely glad to see all the orange that I did. We defintiely had a good showing there. Our guys really played their butts off tonight. OSU jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on the PP and I thought "here we go again.." The guys kept their heads up and took a 2-1 lead in the first and held that up until early third.
Bright points of the night:
1. Jon Horrell... played one hell of a game. He was in position and made some key clutch saves
2. Penalty Killing... after the first early PP goal our PKer's really got the job done.
3. Matsumoto... looked as smooth as ever tonight. One one of our powerplays he took the puck through the neutral zone, deke-ed out 3 bucks only to get robbed by Caruso. He also had a great shot in OT go off the crossbar.
4. Shot blocking... our guys really sacrificed to block shots tonight to make Horrell's job easier. Only downside was quite a few went off limping but returned and seemed ok.
Not quite so bright...
1. Power play... looked abismal tonight. Maybe OSU's PK is just really good though
2. James Unger in the 3rd... he just looked lost out there. Maybe he was still hurting from the shot he blocked in the 2nd but man.. he almost cost us a couple times.
Anyways the Falcon Icers played a hell of a game tonigth and have nothing to be ashamed of. BEAT FERRIS!

2-2 tie
rc-ziggy84 you rock with your thoughts on the game & team!! afterword the guys who came up from the room were "high-fivin'" and congratulating Jon Horrel for his play. They worked as a team, kept their feet moving and believed in themselves. Those of us in the ONLY GREAT color ORANGE are VERY PROUD and looking to the rest of the season. Chain the bulldogs!!!

All I care about is the point. We played the best players and got the +1 that we needed. The first non-loss of the season is going to help propel us to that first victory the team is hungry for.
Oh...and Horrell did stand on his head tonight. Helluva game tonight by Horrell. If he can continue to put up performances like tonight we'll be set for the rest of the season.
A-Z-Z!

Ahhh, the first point of the season!
I am so proud of this team for playing their butts off tonight! We always seem to play well down in C-bus under Pooch, but I don't think we've yet to come out of that Godforsaken city with a point yet. WAY TO GO FALCONS! 8)
I don't feel qualified to comment definitively, but it seems to me that the Brit might be our man this year. I'm sure Spratt is going to be PHENOMENAL once he gets his skates under him at this level, but having seen him play against some of the best in the country in the past, I'll take the Brit any day!
SAVE FERRIS? SCREW FERRIS!!! KIIIIIIIIILLLLLL THEM!!!!!!!!!!

AWESOME GAME!!
The game was fantastic, fun and nerve wracking (sp?) to watch!! I was exhausted watching that game, can't imagine how tired the guys were afterward. Effort was phenomenal! Horrell was almost "Siggy-like" last night and very much deserved that #1 Star of the Game!!! Defense in front of him was just tremendous. They were clearing out everything and prevent the odd man rushes that have been killing us. This tie felt like a win down there!!!
A much needed point and even more, a confidence builder for everyone!!!
GO HOCKEY!!!!

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

A Tie with OSU.....
Nice job Falcons! Thats at least a start. Why do we seem though to play better on the road than at home? Its a bizzare trend.

A buddy of mine brought up a really good point. It is almost easier to play the suckeyes down in Columbus because of the atmosphere. It's very professional feeling, and QUIET.. The crowd never really gets into the game. This leads to a very controled game that road teams can take advantage of. When OSU comes up to our place to play and our fans get loud and into the game, the Bucks really feed off that excitement. The tempo picks up and their talent can take over a game quickly and it's out of hand before we know it.
The downside to having great fans is that it can get the road team just as jacked up. Not that I'm complaining or anything. I'd much rather watch a hockey game in a place like here or up at Yost. It's a true hockey atmosphere with hockey fans. Hockey fans are different than the Ohio St. fans who were at the game Friday night if you get my drift.

Unger played both nights with the flu. Given that, I thought he played pretty well.rc_ziggy84 wrote:

Didn't know that. I could tell something was up late in the game Friday night. Hope he's back to 100% for Ferris this weekend.BGFan wrote:Unger played both nights with the flu. Given that, I thought he played pretty well.rc_ziggy84 wrote:
