Movin On.....

Post by JohnnySwoop '85 »

After a self-imposed exile for the past couple of days I am now back and have caught up on all of the (unsurprisingly) negative posts. And it is time to move on...5 things that will now be different:

1.) My son will no longer have a sign that reads "Undefeated when I Attend"...that streak ended at 12-0 this past Saturday. It's hard to argue with one that would still read 12-1, but let's face it the cache is gone. ((Karl, the torch is passed to Noah's streak, but you can't pick the MAC-thumper of the year and steady stream of Temple-aways to have it mean as much))

2.) The MAC is at parity. recruits also look for schools where they can make an immediate contribution and play....don't believe me? Last year Hiller was playing schools like Tuslaw not Div 1.

3.) I will actually start to enjoy a run oriented offense...enjoy greater time of possession, keep everyone else's offense off the field (even Akron's)

4.) I look forward to seeing how the underclassmen will step in and contribute due to recent injuries. It's time to move on, stop living off the past, and see what the future holds

5.) Next week, the whole family is coming...that means the wife and daughter. Not counting countless replays of recent bowl wins, my girl has only been to 2 BG Games.

Come to think of it, she also has never seen them lose....maybe we make a new sign.

Well, 6-0 is a long way from 12-0, that's for sure, but we'll see if we can't keep the mojo going.

How did Legacy Boy take the loss?

He wanted to leave in the 3rd quarter.

I am not a big proponent of "packing it in early" because it says something about being a "fan" but with a 2.5 hour trip home looming we left with 8 minutes to go in the 4th.

We'll be back at BG at noon, taking in...and get this...the women's swim meet. My daughter is a competitive swimmer.

As a fellow father of a young BG fan, I understand the departure time completely.

Hope your daughter enjoys the swim meet ... and hope Legacy Boy starts a second streak Saturday.

Josh and I toughed it out for the entire game but faced that same 2.5 hour ride home...with a stop in Huron to get Mrs. Freak and Jake. After the 3rd quarter started, Josh wanted to hit the Kids Zone and who was I to argue? As long as he was having fun...

After that game, all I wanted to do was see Josh have fun running pass routes on the field. We played catch for a good 15-20 minutes and then headed back to talk to some of the players.

Josh and I had a blast regardless of the outcome.

Josh, Jake and I will be back for Akron. Mrs. Freak is staying behind cuz we are getting new furniture delivered Saturday! And new carpet on Friday!
The Freakstyle is gonna get a rest this week so we'll have the White Honda Civic.

Friday night is the Dover-New Phila game in Dover. GO DOVER! BEAT PHILA!! (Phila leads the all time series 46-45-9).

Freak: That's good to hear. As a parent, we have to realize there is a lot more than the final score, especially where the kids are concerned.
