Two things stuck out to me. First, Coach Brandon admitted that when Omar got hurt, he thought "What are we gonna do now".always a falcon wrote:Question 2- WHAT ELSE DID THEY SAY ON THE SHOW???????

I was not impressed with the part of the show I heard. It sounded like Brandon coddled the players after the loss and consoled them with the hollow fact of still being in the lead in the division.Warthog wrote:Two things stuck out to me. What does extrapolate mean?"

Like a couple people have said, I want a coach that strikes fear into the heart of the players and who will put them through windsprints on Saturday night if need be. If the players want a shoulder to cry on, they can go see a therapist. I'm still not sure Brandon realizes the slippery slope he seems to be leading the program on.
These next few games are critical to the success or failure of the next few years. I sincerely hope these players and especially these coaches realize that.

This is why the team went into the tank when Omar left thegame. If the players look over and see that their coaches have the "deer in the headlights" look, of course they are going to give up. After Omar left the game, we played very uninspired football the rest of the night.

Personally, I thought it was pretty gutzy of Brandon to be so honest. I would prefer that over someone who candy-coats everything or makes it sound too "pc" for everyone when they are interviewed. I want to know how they really feel, not what they think we want to hear.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

At first, I thought you were going to say Omar was good to go this weekend. But that is great news. I hope we find someone who can come on board and help us in these areas. Thanks for the info.factman wrote:We are actively recruiting a place kicker and punter from coast to coast!!!

We'll get used to these sorts of things because we are stuck with Brandon till his contract runs out. Unfortunately, I don't think us winning out will be enough to land him another job this offseason. It appears as though UNLV last year might've been our last chance...Jacobs4Heisman wrote:I was not impressed with the part of the show I heard. Getting a better than average kicker/punter should be a fairly easy task. I can't imagine it will take them more than the midwest to find one. The fringe, average to above average kickers will not be given a scholarship by any of the bigger schools. BG then gives the kid one and there you go. It can't be that hard, can it?
Well, when you see the kicking struggles so many schools have (wasn't it LSU or Auburn or some other SEC school that lost a game due to a number of missed field goals?), it may be harder than many of us suspect.dduncan wrote:Getting a better than average kicker/punter should be a fairly easy task.
