Last time I checked, kicking was part of special teams.

But maybe I'm not one of the smart ones on the board.

Obviously, you are not one of the smarter ones. Read what I said in context. Kicking is part of special teams, but not the emphasis that it is receiving for the failings. Tackling on special teams has been a bigger part than the kicking.

Looking at how things are done and adjustments that are made or not made. There is more to the game than the scoreboard.

I may not be one of the smarter ones, but at least I know enough not to contradict myself on successive sentences, and then I can usually identify sarcasm. Go work on that.

Why, why, why are you a football fan when you obviously don't know the game?
Sorry we cannot all be Lou Holtz like you
Kicking has not lost us one game yet.
I beg to differ. Wisconsin. We were in control of this game at 20-7 and could have set the tempo for the rest of the game. Instead we give up an 85 yard return which allowed Wisky to stick to their gameplan and continue to run. When we kicked off with a 20-7 lead, after scoring on three straight possessions to open the game, Wisconsin would have been forced to abandon the run and start trying to play catchup if they had 80 yards ahead of them. Instead they had a 10 yard field to work with. Also add some poor punt coverage and routinely giving them the ball in good field posistion all game. I remember on the long car ride home thinking it was special teams that let that game get away from us. You may not agree with this but I believe had that 85 yard return been a 20 yard return the game would have been quite different.

Additionally, in our other two losses the reason special teams did not lose us the game is because we were never in the game. We got killed in all three phases.

Poor special teams play also allowed OU to stay in the game much longer than they should have. It will happen again.

But I should not be a football fan because I obviously know nothing about the game. So don't listen to me.

I don't think you should stop being a football fan. I think you should just join the Asshat Committee. I hear there are positions open, and Einstein LOVES it! :P

Please tell me there are smarter people out there on this board.
Isn't this the kind of animosity that we are trying to avoid? Aren't these the kind of comments that have threatened to break down the camraderie of the fans on this site?

Opposing views are absolutely fine to have and to express; they are what make the forums interesting and worth reading. But personal insults are uncalled for and unwanted.

You can express your opinions and make your points without being offensive or cruel.
