Rob Blake: breaking his promise... yet still my favorite rub

Post by BGSUfanatUT »

I was just sitting here at work, not working as usual, and getting upset that there aren't enough posts for me to reply to, especially in the Hockey forum. So Im making some(well, one for sure).

Remember when Rob said he'd bring the stanley cup to BG? I don't know about you guys, but I have yet to see it. I think last year would have been prime.... despite [the Avs] not being the champs. Im sure he could have swung it still...maybe not. Having the '84 team here, and Blake with lord stanley would have been the greatest thing ever.

I still hope he plans to do this if he wins another one, and maybe he will follow through with it, maybe not. I would be happy for him just to come back. I think it would be a great boost to the team this year if Rob, and/or Brian or anyone else came back to cheer them on. Prehaps the UM or MSU game?

We should see if there is anything we can do about that, like write up a letter to the players or soemthing. Make them aware of how the program is reverting back to the old ways(in case they dont keep up on it). With the NHL on lockdown, they should have some free time to pay us a visit.

Anyway, this forum needs more active posting.... like woah. Just post anythign haveing to do with hockey that floats through your minds guys, anything can start the best of discussions.

Makes me wonder if he made a promise he couldn't keep. Who knows what he had going on when he was able to keep the cup after the championship...perhaps something beyond his control didn't allow him the opportunity to bring it here. I seriously doubt now, that he could get access to it to bring it to BG. I may be wrong, but I don't think so.

Yeah they get the cup for a day and that's it. I think he'll have to win another one to bring it back to BG.

There is another angle to go here. I have worked as an intern and full time employee for three minor league hockey teams (2 USHL, and 1 ECHL). You can have the cup make an appearance at an event, for a pretty hefty cost, but still you can have it at a game or whatever and then charge people to have their photo taken next to the cup. Maybe this would be a good event to have at the Ice Arena to draw hockey fans?

Not a guarantee for addtional fans but surely better than Stinger the goofy ass mascot for the C'bus Blue Jackets.

Id rather have Rob and Brian and the gang come back for a visit, rather than the cup. Or Ken Morrow, how amazing would that be?
