Game Cancelled

Post by jpfalcon09 »

Looked like the brine system broke, anyways I didn't catch what the PA announcer said, is it re-scheduled?

From SportsTicker:

NCAAH FERRIS ST AT BOWLING GREEN
NOTE: THE GAME HAS BEEN SUSPENDED DUE TO CONDENSATION ON
THE ICE WITH THE SCORE TIED 1-1. THE GAME WILL BE
RESCHEDULED AT A LATER DATE.

Reminds me of the Frozen Four in Cincinnati when someone drilled through a pipe in the cooling system and the ice slowly melted during the semifinal.
I'm not as cool as Tony Gaver, nor will I ever be.

The brine system is what keeps the ice cold...it doesn't melt so that's why it kept on coming out of the post slot.

Sounds like when the Ice Arena employee drilled down to put the moorings in for the net he drilled too far.

That is what happened. There was a pink liquid coolant that kept coming out of the drill hole that they couldn't stop. Really sucks too, as Horrell was having another banner game!!! Felt bad for people who came a long way to see the game on a weeknight.....TG1996 from Indy and Meloche's Dad from Ontario. I think the Unger family was here too.

There was also a lot of debate as to whether they would start a new game or start where they left off. According to the BG site, it's the latter:

What a weird night.....
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

the score was actually 0-0....and totally lame. Horrell did have some good saves...so yay for him! The kid that drilled the hole should be fired :-P

Yeah, tell me about it!! I actually ran into another alum from Indy on the way out of the arena. I guess I'll just have to find another one of those Thursday games and make the trip again!

If only that coolant would freeze, the neon pink look could have been a revolutionary one for the sport!!!

They actually almost played on, but then they realized the liquid was melting the ice away. I was RIGHT behind where it happened. See below for proof:

proof? I see no proof.

I was in such a rush by the time I got into BG (damn Rt. 6 detour!) that I forgot my camera. What a "game" to forget that one for!

BTW, while I was impressed with the fairly well-packed student section in the "tunnel corner", they need to be made aware of CCHA history a little better... in my day, I'd like to think a chant pointing the blame at Shegos would have been started at some point.

Who's the homer off to the left with a camera and why is he allowed on the ice during the game? (I say during the game because from the look of Drew's pic, it hadn't been called yet).

The worst ice mishap at a game I've actually been at was definitely the soup games in Cincinnati.
The second worst would have to be the time that the game was delayed 3 (or was it 4) hours because there was a big hole in one of the corners. All the ice was fine except in one of the corners, where the concrete was showing. Among other things, they used a fire extinguisher to try to patch up the ice. Not surprisingly, the players all tried to avoid that corner...
