What a spirit lifter that was! Great points '87, makes us all reconsider our previous 'glass is 98% empty' stance of only days ago.

Great articles '87. Everyone, keep in mind also that BG's biggest friend this season may be our old pal Urban Meyer and the Utes. Or for that matter, Boise St, Fresno St, or Loiusville. If any of these non-BCS teams make a BCS bowl, then this would likely free up an at-large bid. Especially since Conference USA, MWC, and the WAC may not fill their alloted bids. I know that we are likely behind the likes of ND and say a Navy from last season, but nonetheless it would increase our chances for an at large bid. With all of this said, I rather win the MAC. So BG needs to win out and then we'll see where our cards fall. Who knows, NIU may stumble once or twice along the way.

Ive been hearing rumors that the "major" conferences wont be able to fill all of their slots this year, more than us small time football teams

You know, I've heard that too. The Big 11 is one that comes to mind, but they always seem to have a Northwestern type school that fills the last spot. I'm not sure what other BCS conference will not fill their spots, maybe the Big East??? Conference USA is the non-BCS school that sticks out in my mind as not being able to fill all of their spots.

This is just a guess as to why that is but it is probably becausing they keep adding more bowls over the last five years. The last two years everyone had 12 game schedules and going 6-6 made you eligible for a bowl game. With an 11 game schedule will have to leave out a couple more teams who go 5-6 and could have possibly ended up 6-6.
