4-way tie in MAC East, BG’s probably got the toughest path

Post by BGSU33 »

BG, Miami, Ohio and Akron are all tied at 3-2 in the MAC East. But BG probably has the toughest path out of those four teams. We’ve got two more road games, have to still play Miami and Toledo, and we lose the tie-break with Akron. I think Akron has the best shot, but wouldn't at all be surprised to see Ohio take the cake (as if that don't already have their share with men's basketball). Here’s what’s left:

BG: @ Kent State, @ Miami, Toledo.

Miami: Buffalo, BG, @ Ohio

Ohio: Toledo, @ Akron, Miami

Akron: @ Ball State, Ohio, Kent State
GO BG!!!

Akron certainly put themselves in a great position with today's win. But even after watching them beat us, they are not very good "either." I can just see Ohio winning the East and officially going from pushovers to the story of the year in the MAC.

Nah. They lose a tiebreaker to Miami, and they still have to beat OU, who they are tied with. A win at Ball State is no push over, either. IMO, the most likely scenario is that Miami runs the table, and wins the East.

I'm no big fan of them either, but guess what, if they don't win it this year, they will soon. And they aren't going to go away in football, or basketball, for the next few years to come either.

2-part question.

Didn't Akron beat Miami and isn't head-to-head tiebreaker #1?

If I'm not mistaken, Akron controls their own destiny so Miami can run whatever table they please and still not win the East.

What kind of ratings will a CMU-Akron MACC pull in?

I move to strike my previous post from the record as it was obviously retarded.

I also petition the board to allow me to alter my stance on the favorite to win the East as follows.

Miami won the division today.

Nah, we still have to beat the two best teams in the MAC East at this point. BG and Ohio. Buffalo in Yager isn't a cake walk either. They could very well down Miami, as Miami seems to be playing down to the competition this year. I dunno what the heck is going on, I can't figure out Miami anymore. I can't be so cocky and arrogant anymore. Miami is precariously close to losing out.

Ummmm...unless Omar suits up, we're not one of the best teams in the east. Omar is the team's super security blanket....they can compete with him, but they're lost without him.

I refuse to give in! We get Omar back, run the table and Akron drops one of their remaining three. BG wins the East!

Akron will lose to OU. IF BG wins out, they win the East. At this point, hard to imagine, but you never know and the way this year has gone in the MAC, it would not surprise me that much. Having Omar healthy will help and that is not knock on AT, I just think the coaches call a different game with Omar in there.

Looks to me as if the season just got interesting, and whom ever wants it the most will win it.

It would not shock me to see those 4 teams each finish 1-2 and a 4-way tie. How does a 5-6 team in the MACC game sound? :?
