Gibby and Big Jon

Post by JoeFalcon »

both seniors on the turnaround 2001 team, had it pegged perfectly in the post-game show.

Gibson said he spoke to Mazur during a commerical break (he was doing TV commentary) and they both agreed the team had reverted back to their pre-2001 form of making critical mistakes, not paying attention to detail and lacking confidence despite having the talent and ability to win.

6 members of the 2001 staff (not including GA Mike Malone, who was a player) remain in the program. Somehow, someway, they must recapture the intensity and sense of urgency that characterized that year and that team or four years of progress will be destroyed in the span of two games.

I thought Gibby was on point during the post game show, too.

The quote from Gibby that really makes me shudder is where he says, "We have to hold home field or these students will not come to the games...they'll say to themselves, 'I can stay home and start drinking at 5:00'"

OUCH...

Yeah, that was a good one. He also said he had heard those exact words.

How about starting home games at 1PM instead of 4PM so the games don't bleed into valuable BG Saturday night drinking time?

Oh God. Not this debate again...

1:00 games will never happen. They need to make use of the lights that were installed a couple of years ago and attendance would be even worse because a certain school in central, Ohio plays around 1:00 ever week.

Hey they won again this week on the road at Ohio Northern. They beat them with 37 seconds to go in the game on a 40 yard field goal. ON beat Mt. Union the previous week. The Crusaders are the real deal.

Yep it's sad that I know this.
