Fightin' Falcons

Post by ziggityboom »

 I detest that team known as the weasels, GO BLEW. Is there any magic in that many of BG's rookies were born in 1984?

You know that post REALLY made me feel OLDER THAN DIRT!!!

But, since you asked, I hadn't noticed that connection.....could be a good karma thing, eh?

Not-so-obscure Orwellian reference sure to be misconstrued by many.

I was born in Lake Placid, at the same minute of Gino's goal, hence why I am bound to BGSU.

We were at a party in Toledo. The only way we would go is if they agreed to have the game on the TV. By the end of the game EVERYONE was watching! They couldn't believe some of the saves that Kruzich was making to stay in that game. It was incredible.

The next time (and there will be a next time) we'll be there in person!

With all the optimism on the hockey team this season I hope they place better than this...if not, we can always hope for a great baseball season.

It's just fine if the media people think we will finish low, keeps the opposing teams' expectations low. These boys are going to be on a mission to prove all the naysayers wrong and surprise more than one team with higher than 8th/9th place work ethic, skills and determination....and WINS!!!

DROP THE PUCK!!!

well yeah, I popped out within the minute of Gino's goal, it started at the end of the 3rd in regulation I think.... Ill have to ask mom...O wait, I was born in BG it turns out, my bad.... :P

Tricky- I saw that too, honestly I felt really PO'd when i read that we were picked 9th! Which Im thankful for. You know how long its been since I saw a low rankin for us and I was like "well, yeah lets hope we can stay out of last this year...." Im glad they picked us low, we will break their face.

Pre-season picks are usually based on last year's records and not much else. Although I expected to be a little higher in the coach's poll assuming that they pay more attention to recruiting, and how well we competed with them last year. Guess I was wrong. Let them think what they want for now, the answers will be found on the ice. We're a phyically stronger team than last year with great, new recruits coming in to complement the veterans. The Falcons will once again be soaring!

BTW - not everybody is picking us so low. At least one person on a USCHO thread picked us as high as fourth!

When all else fails, hockey is typically there. Though as low as things got, at times it became painfull to watch. Still, hockey is fun because you show up an hour early before the gates open, catch-up with folks. You hunt down your seat. Go to the Falcon Club to swill soda and nibble on chips. You have the two period intermissions, more Falcon Club. Then, on occasion, you have post game festivities. Plus, Hockey is the only major sport where you have two home games, on two back-to-back nights.

Its a nice way to spend an evening. Basketball and football are different kinds of fun. So I don't like compare. Football is an all-day event. Basketball is a quicker event.
