The offense continues to struggle. The coaches refuse to let Turner attempt a pass downfield, but the defense plays well enough again. But this week it will be our special teams of all things that leads us to a win. We block a punt out of the endzone to take a 2-0 lead and carry a 2-0 lead into halftime. Kent State takes the lead on a field goal in the third quarter, by then late in the fourth quarter,
we snap a 3-2 deficit with a last second field goal. BG fans aren't sure if they are more stunned that we finally won without Omar Jacobs, or that we won because of our special teams. Hey, a win's a win.

Don't leave us hanging here---who kicked it???????? :duh:
Glad you asked! Well, the kicker is Timchenko, but what makes this kick so special is, he kicks it low and right into a KSU defensive lineman's helmet. But the beauty of the play is, the ball was kicked so hard, it bounces off the helmet and the ball flies straight into the air and then just at the exact same moment, a big gust of wind (straight outta Bowling Green, Ohio) pushes the deflected ball up, over and through the uprights.
On a serious note, both of Joe's extra points against Akron looked good, and that was one of the few highlights of the game for us. But how many of you were like me, looking at the scoreboard late in the game when the score was 17-14 in favor of Akron, with BG driving to try and tie or win the game. My fiancee (who is well aware of our kicking woes) said out loud exactly what I was thinking...."what if BG has to kick a field goal to try and tie this game?" Unfortunately for us, we never even got a chance to see.
