What on earth do we all expect?

Post by bc ziggy 58 »

Fans and friends alike, I pose the above question to you all. The heart and soul of this team has been removed and I honestly believe that the remaining 70+ young men on this team are doing the best they can. What can we all honestly expect when:
-the person responsbile for over 70% of a teams offense can no longer contribute such numbers?
-the defense, accustomed to playing with leads and extended rest periods no longer has that luxury?
-a red-shirt freshman, with little or no game experience and a limited playbook, is now responsible for running one of the most complex offenses in college football?

Everyone, pose yourself a few more questions: How well would Georgia do without D.J. Shockley? How well would VT do with out Vick? USC with Leinhart and Texas without Vince Young?

I could go on and on, however I believe you all get my point. We must play with the "cards" we have been dealt and it pains my heart to read comments like Harry's that we don't have heart. Reminds me of a comment made by my pastor recently - "Where else will you find 22,000 people desperately in need of both physical activity and compassion; criticizing and belittling 22 young men who are desperately in need of rest and support?"

Respectfully submitted,
Converting Fort Wayne one fan at a time!!

Last week I might have agreed with this. This week not so much.

It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan

If they are desperately in need of rest, they can give back their full-ride scholarship provided by the taxpayers of Ohio and sleep as long as they want.

That being said, the problem isn't a lack of effort. It's the lack of leadership that wasn't installed by this coaching staff starting in January that has led to the demise of this team.

I don't think he was implying they were tired. I think he was saying they had a week to prepare and find a way to win, and they still failed.

I read the words "desperately in need of rest"

Two of my three points remain, as they should. Coaching issues interjected - I think it might be time for a change.

This is a loaded question. I do agreee with you about AT, and Omar's contributions.
Yet must be truthfull when saying that if USC lost Leinhart they would still win and have a comanding lead, as his contribution is no where as great as Omars, and USC as team has far more depth, and more importantly desire and drive, and yes pride to. Georgia would still play very competitively with out DJ and VT would get it done, as would the long horns.
Fair compairison is looking at Toledo against Ct without Bruce, or any team from a mid major with a key missing.
Your sentiment however was well intended, but misplaced.
We have a good team, they have the skills to be competitive with out Omar, they just are not playing to level they are capable. That we know they are capable of, and that they dam sure know they can play too...just dont know why.

We do NOT have a good team. The best team we've beaten is Ohio. Ohio is not a good team. They're average at best. Who else have we beaten? 3 bottom-feeders: Buffalo, Temple and Ball State (and we all know Ball State was a struggle). Good teams do not lose AT HOME to Western Michigan and Akron back-to-back. Let's wake up! This is not last year. We are not a good team. We're 4-4. We're average, at best. How can we even THINK about beating Miami or Toledo when we lose AT HOME to Akron and WMU. I'm worried about Kent State! The best we can do is 7-4. Realistically, I see us as 6-5. Does that get us into a bowl? No more excuses! We're average...bordering below average. I've been to 2 games...Ball State and Ohio. Our offense has not impressed me one bit and our defense impressed me in the Ohio game only. I don't know what happened between last year and this year. Did we believe the preseason hype? I'll continue to follow the Falcons this year...and watch them on TV the final 3 games...but I know, it's gonna get ugly!

Buffalo was a struggle, too.

if you factor in how bad our ST was against Ohio we have only played 1 good game and that was against Temple. We are 2-6 vs the spread, and 1 point away from being 1-7. Oh well, Purdue is 0-8 against the spread.. at least we arent that bad!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!
