Complacency and Excuses.
First off, I'll apologize in advance for, lacking a better word, the "Falconboyishness" of this post.
I just listened to about 10 minutes of Brandon's weekly radio interview. I had to turn it off before I puked all over the steering wheel.
Now he's spouting off some garbage about how we're a bad team because the last 3-5 recruiting classes have been hurt by coaching changes. Bulls**t. This team was very good last year and held back mostly by coaching. We had some key losses in the secondary and on offense but talent-wise, this team could have been even better than last year's.
I am so damn tired of hearing Brandon whine about extenuating circumstances as opposed to glancing inwards or actually holding players accountable instead of coddling them every step of the way. Every word out of his mouth is either an excuse, or reeks of complacency.
Perhaps the worst thing I heard was this. Brandon actually said that the problems we've had the past 2 weeks can "only be solved by recruiting". He's given up on this year, and the players will follow his example.
I've had it -- I'm officially in the "get rid of Gregg Brandon" camp. Forget the next step we were all talking about before Wisconsin, this program will not even get back to respectability with Brandon "leading" the way.
Pathetic.

Most of you already know my views, but I will repeat them anyway.
When asked by a prominent University official of my thoughts on this coaching staff I responded by saying . . . "My concerns with Brandon are the same concerns I've had with Dakich since the WVU fiasco. At some point, you get to the point in BG where the fans don't expect much and you get comfortable and it's not as important to go out and get the three-star guy b/c the two-star guy is "good enough" and it's "okay" to lose a game here and there, b/c we win most of the games we should. With me, we don't have the quality of that "different special feeling" you had with Urban."
He said "Quite honestly, I agree with you on both coaches."
What in the hell makes Gregg Brandon think that this recruiting staff is going to be any different than any of his past mediocre at best classes. The Sporting News ranked us as having the 8th best class in the MAC. At some point, recruiting for depth, as opposed to guys you expect to compete catches up with you.
Brandon has not had a solid class yet. He's had three chances to find replacements for Jelani Jordan and Terrill Mayberry and failed to do so. He's had three chances to find speed at the linebacker position and failed to do so. Not to mention the ridiculous kicking situation.
Brandon is a supposed offensive genius. I'm sorry but when you have three of the top probably 5-8 receivers in the MAC on your team, it's not going to get much better than that in Bowling Green.
I completely understand "limiting" the playbook for Turner. How is it that you don't include a play that can convert a 3rd and 6 or 7? If you have that little confidence in AT throwing the ball downfield then burn Freddie's redshirt. Afterall, you've had no issues with burning Pete Winovich's redshirt so he could play fricking special teams and to find out he's not any quicker than Teddy Piepkow, Jamien Johnson or Jakubowski at linebacker.
Greg Studwara is damn lucky he played ball here and has been a contributing member of this staff as an OL coach, b/c ladies and gentlemen, you can look, but show me an Offensive Coordinator that has as little of a grasp on his offense.
I hate to throw around words about people losing their jobs, but you won't find me crying if some University throws out more than $130K to listen to Gregg Brandon make up worthless excuses after games that he should have won.
I just hope that we don't have to watch Blackney-esque football for three more years.

Brandon is a joke. blame recruiting when you are in charge of recruiting=brilliant. If the leader is mailing in the season, then I am sure now that we will get our asses handed to us in the final three games. Hey coach, get off of your ass and go find the players.
I just think back to spring ball when our cocky confident coach joked about special teams saying we don't need to worry about the kicking game.....we won't need to punt or kick field goals with this high octane offense. What a complete jack ass moron. Glad to see that plan worked for you coach.
Coach, do us a favor and resign, take a O coordinator job somewhere else and take all fof these hanger ons assistants with you. ATTENTION coaches that have been here since Gary Blackney....there is a world outside of BG, go explore it!!! Do you think there is a reson that Urban didn't beg the likes of Coach Stud and Ward(to name a few) to come along with him????
Adios to you all and don't let the door hit you were the good lord split ya!!!
And before all of you Mrs. Brandons out there remind me that he has one two bowls......blah.....blah....blah, this team is going down fast and just about any coach could have led the talent we had to those wins!! This point is proven by our current commander in chief!!!
Time to begin that coaching search, and please Coach B, admit you are in over your head and walk away so we can move on!!!! To remind you all this school cannot afford to fire a head coach....damn small athletic budgets

Glad you mentioned the possibility of him taking an OC job next year at a big-time school - I never thought of that. That is a plausible way of getting him off the payroll before 2008.
Other programs will now not hire him as a head coach, but I'm sure he's still highly-regarded for his offensive mind.
Is Florida's OC a head-coaching candidate at other schools next year? If so, maybe Brandon can join Urban down south literally (before he takes our program down south figuratively)

Although I agree with most of the sentiment on this thread, especially TG's, I will say tone it down a bit, lets act a bit more civilized than the nutters on this thread:

Not trying to be a Debbie Downer and a goody two shoes, but I guess when Grant says he hopes the boards police themselves this is a situation where I'd like to step in and say Whoa everyone- critisize the decisions and stuff of that nature but take a break on some of the questionable stuff. I dont' think anything has been over the line as of yet, but getting close is too close for me.
oh yeah, and
SEE YA AT KENT THIS WEEKEND!!!!

C'mon kids...let's all "mellow out" a little....no need to start throwing references to basement's, D&D, and so forth around. Let's crack open a cold one...maybe raid mom and dad's CD collection for a littel Crosby Stills and Nash.
Besides...for all you know TG doesn't even have a basement.
Dayon...you are that guy and so much more...
