Eleven, actually, but thanks for thinking of us.

Good luck this weekend, y'all.

That part of the quote should make the day for some people!

TO his credit, GB has always been focused on building the program here.
The wish list usually runs more $$ for his assitants and better facilities for the athletes. Getting both of those would be a tremendous asset in building the program.

I think we'll be happy with last year's class in a year or two. Youwin football games form the inside out...we really picked up some quality linemen on both sides of the ball last year.

Despite the UNLV dalliance last year, I get the feeling that Brandon really is trying to build something here, not just create a stepping stone.
Here is a little story about Coach Brandon. Not sure if I shared it before or not. But it addresses the talk around dedication and commitment from him.

When Corey was Senior in high school we made our official visit to BG in December, a week or so before the Motor City Bowl. I was sitting at lunch talking with Coach Brandon and I asked him the following question:

'My son is committing to playing football for you for the next 4 years, What commitment can he get from you that you will be here for the same time and not leave for another position somewhere else?'

Coach Brandon reponded: 'After we win the Motor City Bowl I am going to ask for a contract extention and if I get it I plan on being here!'

I don't believe it was a recruiting answer, I am usually a pretty good judge of people and I could tell he wasn't handing me a line. Sure he didn't promise he would be here, but in reality he can't give that promise. I truly believe Coach Brandon is here for the long haul. I believe he likes BGSU and the community and wants to build something here.

Spart,

That is a great story. I believe Coach Brandon is sincere when he talks of building this program into something really special. This season has seen adversity we haven't seen in a while and hasn't gone the way we thought. But I never got the feeling Coach didn't care and wasn't here to win.

Will this day ever end??? I want to go to a Falcon football game tomorrow! With only a 15 minute drive this week.... :D

I found this quote from the post-Akron press conference very interesting.

"We do have some great young guys that will be great for us next year. The tendency is to play those guys, but I don't want to. I want to red-shirt them. We are still good enough on both sides of the ball, including the injuries, to win games. I'm not willing to cash in the chips and burn guy's years. I am not going to sacrifice the farm. I am in it for the long haul."

Makes me think we may have more talent on the roster than we think and that Brandon is taking the correct approach in regard to roster & eligibility management, building for the long-term.
For all the criticism and flack GB has taken from some of us on here lately that quote should bring some confidence back to some of the people on here.
It does. I mean, I'm not happy about this season. But I like reading that.

Or, he's just saying that. Of course, it is better than saying he's not going to redshirt them so they can play for some other coach.
