University sponsoring bus trip to Miami

Post by BGSU Crazy Fan 58 »

There is an ad in the BG News today for a UAO (university activities organization) sponsored bus trip for the Miami/BG football game for students. It's only $10 and that includes a game ticket and the ride. I wasn't planning on going but that is a really good deal, if we win saturday I think I'm gonna go. I've never been to Miami so I think I might go on this. Just thought I'd let everyone know, especially the students.

As an aside - Hats off to the athletic marketing department, which has taken more than its share of heat.

Great idea and ahead of the curve, too.

I'm sure this would qualify as one of those special occaisions where you could take the exam early in the morning and then come to the game.

As for UK Peregrine and I, we haven't quite decided if we are even going to work that day. Might show up and stay 'till about 10:00, just to say hi, show our faces to the boss that type of thing. Depending on the weather we will probably be there between 12-1.

I think I'll pass on this one. It seems like every time I go on one of those we lose, so I'll watch it from the comfort of my recliner.

Tell your prof that you know of other professors who are cancelling class so that students can go to the game....

(Okay, yes, I'm talking about the marching band director.... but she's a professor so you would definitely be telling the truth... it's just not exactly like most other classes.)

You know you have a cool teacher when....

She moves your Acct. 211 test from one day to the day after The Who concert at the Silverdome....and she allows you to take it some other time.

Can't make the Miami game....I love seeing BG on ESPN/2 but it sure is a lot easier to make games when they're on the weekend.

The rest of my vacation days are planned...1/2 day for the UT game and the day after to celebrate.

12/1---1/2 day and a full day on 12/2. Gotta believe! :D

2 1/2 days for a bowl game....again, gotta believe!

I'm gonna wait and see how the Kent game goes. Not being a fairweather fan, but if I go I miss 2 classes and have to get up early the next day for my bio lab at 8:30. But for $10, you can't beat it.

The UAO did this as one of their activities that they put on regularly throughout the semester. This is totally done by the students for the students and really doesn't have much to do with the marketing department or university. While it would be nice if they could provide more opportunities for students to travel to the games, it does get very expensive and the UAO is on a budget. This was a great idea by the UAO and I know they are pushing to get more activities that are integrated with the football games to boost student involvement. Having said this, wouldn't it be great if other campus organizations and groups either worked with the UAO to increase student support for their school or came up with their own activities etc.?
