What Exactly Has to Happen for MACC...
1) BG needs to win out (Kent, Miami, Toledo)
2) Ball State or Kent (why not both) needs to beat Akron.
If I know the tie-breaker correctly, since we beat OU head-to-head we would be considered the East champions.

We would get the tie-breaker with Ohio if it came down to just us and OU - two teams. But if it's a three or four way tie (like it is now), OU could end up edging us in the additional tie breaks which sometimes carries over to crossover MAC games, which is why I am pulling big time for Toledo to beat Ohio on Friday night. I think if Ohio beats Toledo, Ohio will be MAC East champs. I really think they are on the verge of starting something big down there in football too (already have in basketball). Go Rockets.....yep, I said it.
GO BG!!!

As long as we win out and Akron loses one more, we will win the MAC East.
That's the simplest way to think about it. That scenario could yield a tie with Ohio, but we would have a tiebreaker because of our win.
If someone wants to think through the tiebreakers on a three-way tie with Ohio, Akron and Bowling Green, go for it. But I'm not going to put that kind of time in until I see how we did in Oxford.

BG wins out, Akron loses 1 game. BG plays for the title.
BEAT KENT!! And go Ball State.
Yikes!!! If it takes UT beating Ohio wich would seem easily attainlable it would just be our luck for UT to lose. I hope it doesn't come down to this though.

If the Turds lose tonight they are pretty much out of the West race...falconboy wrote:BGSU33 wrote:And go Rockets....but only tonight against Ohio.Falconfreak90 wrote:Keeping it simple helps the Freak best.![]()

It will put us in a bad position, but we won't be out of the race. We would be 4-2 and if we then beat NIU and BG we would finish 6-2. NIU would be no better than 5-3 because they already have two losses and losing to us makes 3. CMU would have to lose 2 of their last three games to finish 5-3 in this scenario, but it is fairly possible. We will need NIU to beat CMU tomorrow I think. CMU's other two games are at Ball State and at WMU. I feel fairly confident that CMU will lose to 2 of their last 3 opponents and I feel real confident that they will lose to at least 1 of them.
CMU's remaining schedule:
vs NIU
at Ball State
at WMU (they are playing very well right now)
Of course it would be best for Toledo if we can win out and go 7-1 in the MAC, which would mean winning tonight. In that case, CMU would only need to lose 1 of their last 3 games. The pressure is now on CMU for the first time this season. They have a lot of young guys, especially on defense and on the offensive line and at running back. I could be wrong, but I don't think they will know how to handle the pressure.

But NIU controls their destiny. They have Central, Toledo, and Western yet to play. They are kinda like us. Disappointed in how things have gone, yet have every opportunity to still make something of this season.

Yeah, I never thought I'd say it, but I am really, really pulling for the Huskies this year. They really do have some great fans, and it is a shame that our programs are in our current positions. But, if either or both of us do make it the MACC game, those are going to be EXCITING runs! Much more exciting than rolling over our respective conferences (though that would be a LOT easier on our collective tickers...).Warthog wrote:But NIU controls their destiny.
