The defense looked better, albeit against sub-par competition. Omar is back next week. Akron lost. I'll take it.

What I liked is that Bowling Green really seemed to tackle well. Hopefully, that's something that will carry over to Oxford.

Heck yeah we will! Now lets try to get a lot of fans down to the Miami game and try and limit their home field advantage! Hopefully BG goes down there with some fire with the MAC East Title on the line and having Omar back!

This team needed a win. They got it.

This team needed confidence. They got it.

This team needed Akron to lose. They got it.

Enough negative postings, we played a good game today and got a win. That's all we needed before Omar returns.

This has to be good for the TEAM to be able to win without Omar. Hopefully with Omar back at Oxford the offense will take off and the defense will pull out all the stops. Go FALCONS!!!

I noticed the tackling also Schad and was happy to see it. We still have a few guys who are going for the big hit and not wrapping up (read: Antonio). Try that against Ryne Robinson or Trinity Dawson and they will make you look stupid.

By and large, the tackling was vastly improved today. It will have to be just as good or better to slow down Miami and Toledo.

What is even better news is that if we win out we go to the Mac Championship.

Defense looked solid. You can atleast win with that defense.

And we might be able to get away with less. A Bowling Green win over Miami clinches the East if Ohio beats Akron that same night.

Actually, we don't even have to win out. Just beat Miami next week. We could still lose to Toledo and win the East. If that happens, we have three loses, with Akron being the only East opponent to beat us. Miami and Ohio would have three losses and we would have the tie-breakere with each. We would just need Akron to lose one of their remaining games against Ohio or Kent.

A win is a win and I'll take it. (Didn't beat the spread again though :( ) Defense seemed to play with more enthusiasm and energy. Five sacks and lots of pressure on the QB. And once Kent got within 10 in the fourth, they never let them even get close to scoring again.

I liked Brandon's comments before halftime. Saying we are going to win with defense and ST. Not sure ST did anythign special (missed FG, gave up teh on-side kick that I think we got lucky on, but the punt team did alright), but it sounded like he was challenging the defense to win this game for us and I really think they did.

I was happier leaving the stadium today than I have been after any win in a while. Great team effort by the Falcons today. Going to need another effort just like it out of our D on the 15th.

Yeah, today's win wasn't pretty, it wasn't really pretty at all, but as this thread is titled - I'll take it too! Man it's nice to just finally get a win again. We got the much needed win we needed and Ball State gave us some help. In short, we are going to be playing the game most people (including myself) felt would and could decide the MAC East. But without a doubt, we are going to have to play much better next game to beat Miami, especially in Oxford. I can only hope Omar is able to go, that our defense picks up where it left off today, and that our special teams continue to improve. But at least I can go to bed tonight without a loss on my mind and we are back with a shot at the MAC title.
GO BG!!!

It seemed to be that AT was kind of hesitant during the beginning, but whenever he got knocked out for a while and came back, it was like he was a totally different ballplayer.... Anybody else agree?? Or am I completely insane?

We live to fight another day. Let's hope we realize we can cheat the devil and bring this improved defense and special teams along with the Wisconsin offense, and get a big road win in Oxford.

I would agree that AT responded much like a boxer or a fighter that gets a cut and has to protect. He seemed much more aggressive and perhaps quicker after the big hit. However, despite his inexperience, he needs to know to get his ass on the ground and not try to run over middle linebackers or safeties.

The playcalling was much more suited to AT's strengths and took advantage of our O-line presence.

I really think Omar could have went today if we absolutely needed him, so I feel good about him on the 15th.

I didn't think there was too much special about the defensive effort today, considering the stupid penalties of clearly hitting people out of bounds and a certain DB taking a really bad one as well. The tackling still is not there and we are very slow in the front 7. Haneline made a helluva play though.

Like the thread says, it wasn't pretty, but I'll take it.
