First off, I thought this was generally a very well played game.
*AT has happy feet and I figured out why while watching him. When the ball is snapped he knows EXACTLY who is going to get the ball. He actually waits for his guy to get a little open then force the ball to him.
He needs to get better at going through his reads. There were quite a few times when Sharon had his man by a stop and the safety wasn't in a position to close. That shouldn't be like that. Toss it up to him with the arm you, AT and let CS run under it.
I'm wondering, however, if this isn't a little bit of the reason the coaching staff doesn't let AT "air it out." I was frustrated at the game because we kept calling the same run play. There was a disconnect in my mind between AT's reading abilities and having to run the ball. It would be an interesting discussion.
Speaking of that frustration, towards the end of the game when we ran again on a third and 7,8, or 9, I stood up and shouting back to the press boxes "HEY STUD! TURN THE PAGE!"
The defense is starting to look better. They had really good pop on their hits today. The open field tackles were VERY good. That was my biggest impression from this game. Unfortunately, there's still the old habit of trying to sweep the ball carriers legs when in traffic, however.
I was concerned on the very first play of Kent. Their O-line just gobbled up the BG line and had a decent gainer. I looked at my wife and said, "this may be a long day."
After that play, however, the linemem were beginning to get good penetration and holding up blockers so that the LB's could move into position. And were those SPIN moves I saw to get to the QB? Very well done.
I had a vantage point I have never had before at a BG game. I was sitting in the middle of the parents of players. I know they're kids with families, but it never quite hits home until you hold discussions with these folks. We recruite some great kids. Do y'all know that?
Speaking of that, I had the great fortune of sitting in front of the Pete Winovich's clan. I'm serious, they were a clan! I haven't seen so many number 11 jerseys since Erik White was quarterback! They're from PA and the dad had on a Steelers turtleneck on. Must kill them to wear orange and brown. They are a wonderful and loving family. It was fun being around them.
Oh, do MAC officials blow. No need to dwell on that common fact.
You all missed out on a very nice gathering at Freak's house. I actually assisted in the battle of the oaks!
Mike has a great house, fantastic wife, cool kids who like heavy metal, and BG room. Thanks again for having us Mike. You and your family ROCK!
I'll post more tomorrow. Gunga need sleep.

Know what you mean about the great kids. I haven't really spent time with any of them, but the stories I hear from you guys make me proud to be a Falcon!

Oh [expletive]! I don't know what the heck I was thinking. I was laying in bed typing that half asleep. You wouldn't think I would flake out on something like that but - oh well.TG1996 wrote:And he wore #7, even!Rightupinthere wrote:I haven't seen so many number 11 jerseys since Erik White was quarterback!![]()

Sounds about right, but I'm not positive. The only sure thing I know is that Rob Blake was number 11 his first two years - but that's hockey.TG1996 wrote: Wasn't Rich Dackin #11?

Although maybe it *does* explain the explosion in #11 football jerseys....Rightupinthere wrote:The only sure thing I know is that Rob Blake was number 11 his first two years - but that's hockey.

Thanks for the compliments, RUIT! It was great having you and Mrs. RUIT and the little one over. Thanks for coming and that goes to everyone that stopped by. Most of the leaves have blown into the neighbor's yard so the Battle with the Oaks is going well.

Good to meet you RUIT and your clan. The wee one sure is a riot!
I had a great day at Kent, despite feeling like I was in high school making my 58 year old dad hide the booze when the heat came 'round.
Beer in the stadium- genius.
More orange than yellow/blue- FUN.
Meeting a childhood hero, Brian McClure,- great.
Singing ay ziggy zoomba as the trumpets blared down- damn fun.
Going away with a satisfying victory- the best.
Thanks to everyone who made the trip, it was a lot of fun!
