Why BG WILL beat Miami

Post by BGGrad01 »

There are 47 different threads about why we will NOT beat Miami. Let's put on those orange colored glasses and take a sip of some Facon-aid and talk about why we will win this one.

1. Everybody talks about Omar Jacobs losing every big game he plays in. Josh Betts hasn't exactly lit it up against top-notch competition either. Miami did beat UT last year in the regular season, but aside from that game, he hasn't beaten anyone worth a darn.

2. By next Tuesday, PJ Pope will be at 100% for the first time all year and Omar Jacobs and Corey Partridge will be feeling much better after a week off. We haven't played more than 10 minutes all year with all of our weapons healthy on offense. I forget what exactly we did in those 10 minutes. Can anyone remind me?

3. Shane Montgomery has not been a head coach in a game this big. I know Gregg Brandon hasn't set the world on fire in these big time games, but I am hopeful that he has learned from past mistakes. I am confident that Montgomery will make some rookie mistakes.

4. Our stupid punt formation. Yep, I said it. It is a reason why we WILL win. Miami has one of the best punt returners any of us will ever see in Ryne Robinson. You think they will come after our punter trying to get a block or try to setup a return for him? I think the latter. Nate Fry will hit some monster punts with time to do so and the "spread" punt formation will allow us to cover Robinson more effectively.

I am very confident that we will go into Oxford and get a win for the first time in nearly a decade. I think I'm being realistic going into this game. I know we have problems, but I think there are alot of good things about this football team too. Enough good things to get the job done. Go Falcons!!

good post -- it's nice to see some optimism even though I'm having trouble building it up in myself this week.

#2 was my favorite =)

Dear God, I hope you are right. I just hope we don't have to punt or attempt any field goals, that would keep my Blood Pressure down.

I feel extremely confident about this game, and all year I haven't at all, except Wisconsin. I believe the re-addition to Omar in our lineup is going to spark this team. Remember, Omar was even preaching before the summer...win the MAC. In 8 days he can bring us one step closer.

Agreed, Omar will be the X factor in this game. If he comes out and gives us a Wisconsin performance, we win. If we show up with the Buffalo team, I'm a bit hesitant.

Well done!!!

Games are so much more fun to watch when you don't give up a week and a half before it starts!

Ouch 04...remember the rules to this thread. We want reasons why we will win. There are plenty other threads for negativity.

WHY WE WILL WIN:

1. While Miami has the number 1 pass offense in the MAC putting up 295 yds per game, we have the number 3 pass defense allowing 179 per game.

2. Omar will be back...oh yeah, and Omar will be back.

3. Our offense will be explosive again and Miami's pass defense is 8th in the MAC.

4. We are number 1 in the MAC in punt returns, so the offense will have great field position.

5. While Miami is number 1 in scoring, we are only 3 pts behind and we had the injury to Omar. Take away those 2 games and we are number one.

6. PJ will be 100% and this is huge for our offense.

7. Did I mention that Omar would be back

We're playing at Oxford, yes?

That doesn't sit easy with me. Can we win? Yes. Miami, arguably is peaking right now.
Arguably, BG isn't.

Me have bad feeling about this game.

Punts

Post by BGSU Crazy Fan 58 »

Everytime we punt, which I'm thinking will only be a couple times, Frye needs to do that rugby style kick. If he keeps low and rolling, Robinson will have no chance to get a good return. It's on the coaches to tell him to do that type of kick and I hope they do. We got a good chance to win this, we are soooooooo due for a win against those pricks from miami.

Why throw against BG when you can run it all day? 1700 yards this season or just under 200 per game... that my friends is not a sign of a healthy defense...

Special teams may well decide this matchup everything else being equal... who has the edge there?

I'll get into a field goal kicking, punt returning, and punting game with BG all night long!

I have issues with points 4. and 7. , I don't see how we lead the Mac in punt returns. I've seen only one one or two really good ones and one was last weak with Sharon getting 37 yards. Other that one I can' really remember any others being very good.

On point #7 , who's said we will have Omar next Tues? I sure hope we have him cuz I see 0% chance of beating them without him. But that is all speculation right now. No one knows anything yet. I'm praying the training staff can perform a miracle and get Omar's shoulder healthy enough to be able to fend off defenders with stiff arms and the like to protect himself from getting hurt again.

Beating Miami will be a tall task with Omar as it is. The defense will have to take the energy they had at Kent and and pump it up another 10 notches cuz I don't think just the performance we had at Kent will get it done either, because it was Kent a 1-9 team. We shoulda been able to beat them. So although the defensive performance was better and the tackling and intesity was better than past games, it was still a 1-9 bottom dwellar Kent team. The offensive performance in that game can not be repeated or it will be over by the middle of the 2nd qtr.

Come on now, you have Corey as your banner and yet you don't recall a certain 79 yard return for a touchdown.

Well, I was about to include that one but I thought that was kickoff return. I couldn't remember. If the one Corey took back was a punt return then okay we have two really good punt returns.

Its amazing how fast you can find an answer on the internet. Also do you have a problem with BelieveNBG's point number 2 as well or just number 7. I wasn't sure.
