College Hoops Season Is Underway!

Post by BGSU33 »

The season has started! Syracuse and Cornell collect the first two wins of the 2005-2006 season.

Come on 33, you're killing me here. This thread has got to be in the other schools forum, right?

Way to go Big Red and Orange!

No man, the post was intended to celebrate the start of the college hoops season, which obviously includes BG. I was just pointing out winners on opening night, there was just two games. You of all people (being you're at UK) should know it's a BiG deal that hoops season is underway!!! :) Speaking of UK, I've been to Rupp Arena a few times for games...awesome atmosphere in there! I wasn't a big fan of the actually arena itself (though it is cool how it's attached to that mini-mall, hotel, etc., but when full, it was like a football atmosphere only indoors. I loved it. My fiancee is a huge UK fan (both her parents went to UK) and I have taken her to games at Rupp and on the road (went to see UK play at Maryland in Cole Fieldhouse). But my favorite place that I've seen a game is still Cameron Indoor Stadium. I hate Duke, but it was an awesome experience having 9,400 people going nuts in a gym not much bigger than Anderson Arena.

9400 bah. 22000 going nuts at a UK/Florida game those are crazy. I just try not looking down at the steepness of the Arena when I'm up against the wall in the upper level. Whoe does that bring on vertigo. Would be more into hoops if UK lined up a better opening couple of games. We still have an exhibition against georgetown college tongiht (the small baptist school north of here where bengals train). Not sure who my ticket hook up will be this year, I try at least one game a year. UK does play Ohio U in Cincy December 30th, kind of hope to go to that one as well.

Rupp is awesome for games, no doubt, but Cameron is a tad bit better for college hoops IMO. The bottom line is, they are both awesome places to see a college game and are two of the best in the nation by far. I like Cameron Indoor Stadium better because it feels like a college arena. Rupp, like the Dean Dome at UNC, feels more like an NBA arena because of its size, though the atmospheres are way better than NBA arenas. Now I will say, for arenas that seat over 20,000 each, game atmospheres at UK blows away UNC, no doubt.
