McLeod heading to Jazz camp
Thursday, September 30, 2004 Canton Repository sports staff report
SALT LAKE CITY — Former McKinley High School guard Keith McLeod was added to the Utah Jazz training camp roster after a tryout with the team last week.
McLeod appeared in 33 games as a rookie last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He averaged 2.7 points, 1.8 assists, 1.0 rebounds and 11.8 minutes before he was waived in January.
The Timberwolves invited the 6-foot-2 McLeod to play on their Minnesota Summer League team. He averaged a team-leading 13.8 points and 4.5 assists in four games. He finished second in the league in assists and fifth in scoring and was a second-team all-summer league selection.
McLeod was selected Ohio’s Mr. Basketball after his senior season at McKinley in 1998. He was also named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year while at Bowling Green.
The Jazz will open training camp Tuesday. McLeod joins a training camp roster that also includes former Cavaliers Carlos Boozer and Cedric Henderson.

Congratulations to Keith and good luck. Maybe he could accidentily take Boozer out to open up a roster spot.
Grant,
Like the falcon head icons that go along with the egg, chick, fledgling, etc status. But how come yours are all orange already. Perks of being the administrator I guess.

That is great news for Keith! Besides Boozer, Kirilenko, and Harping, the Jazz really doesn't have too great of a team. If Keith does well in camp and continues to improve throughout the season, he could possibly be getting a few starts before the season is over. Raja Bell is not that great of a 2 guard IMO. If Keith is a PG now though, he would end up behind Carlos Arroyo who scored 12 ppg and had 5 apg last year. He could be a great back-up for both the PG and SG spots and depth is what the Jazz needs.
