BG @ ND (Saturday)
End of first: 0-2 ND, Horrell in net.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Man this is disappointing!
If you're ridin' ahead of the herd, take a look back now and then to make sure it's still there.

Yes it is. I know we played better, but that doesn't take the sting out of getting swept on the weekend.....FalconBlue wrote:Man this is disappointing!

Boy. That was dissapointing to listen to. Great effort by the boys toward the end, though! One thing you will never see a Paluch-led team do is give up, and tonight was no different.
There is still a lot of hockey left before us, folks. We've had a slow start, but this is a team that I really think can pull the kind of end-of-the-season run that UAF did last year. There is soooo much talent on our bench and among our forwards, and we are not lacking for shots right now.
I really think that the biggest part of our problem is inconsistency in the net. Yes, I know Jimmy needs to get his legs under him because he's going to be the #1 guy for the next few years, but right now we have a wonderful netminder in Horrell who is not getting consistent playing time, and it is, in my mind, showing. I hate to question ANYTHING Paluch does (because he's brilliant), and I realize that Spratt has a lot of potential, but I really think that for the time being we need to stay with Horrell as the starter for a month or two. If the opportunity arises, we can put Jimmy in for some mop-up duty in the meantime, and he can get some valuable practice time in. I really, really think that this would be the absolute best thing for this team right now.
Mind you, I've not seen a game in person yet, so this opinion is based solely on box scores and radio broadcasts - take it with a grain of salt if you see fit. Good news? I get to SEE the Saturday game next weekend! I can't remember the last time I was so excited about anything.

Wow. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Until you wrote this I had no idea that what I thought was a great idea was nothing more than rotten, stinking, putrid and malevolent smoke emitting from my butt hole. Now I know - and knowning is half the battle.ziggityboom wrote:sorry mr. bleeding but you haven't seen a game so you don't know squat, I mean spratt. Anyway, when the F is Bales going to play? Best defensive centerman in the USHL last year and boy do we need something like that. Just my 2 cents
In other words, no need to be such a dick about it, Mr. Boom.

No worries. I actually had a good laugh as I was typing that response, and plus you gave me the opportunity to employ the word "malevolent," which I don't get to do nearly enough.ziggityboom wrote:Gee,l I didn't mean to fire a fatal shot at you Mr. Bleeding and I hope you'll recover soon. Please stop calling me "Mr. Bleeding," though. I think you are talking to my father and I keep looking over my shoulder...

Again, joke. It would seem that everyone is going through a literal phase around here. I will try and ameliorate the situation through the excessive use of emoticons in the future:Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Your father answers to Mr. Bleeding? :coo-coo:Bleeding Orange wrote:No worries. No, they aren't. We pretty much gave them the game Thursday night and despite outplaying them Friday, we couldn't hit the back of the net. We were great at hitting the stupid posts and crossbar, though...Falconfreak90 wrote:What do you folks think the deal is? Is ND that good this year?
