Yes, this is about Arizona, but the connection will be made shortly. Patience is a virtue.

Last week, in one of the most incredible games I have ever in my young life witnessed, UofA defeated the then #7 ranked, undefeated UCLA Bruins in a blowout, 52-14 (and the game wasn't even as close as the score indicates). The outcome of that game was entirely inexplicable, but the Wildcats played one of the most perfect games of college football ever concieved. Seriously.

Today, the 'Cats took on the lowly Washington Huskies at home, and all of the momentum that they should have had from last week's astounding victory was vanquished very, very early. They could not run the ball. They could not get offensive plays called on time and burned timeouts meaninglessly. The secondary looked as if they had never played a game in their life. They were leading 14-7 at the end of the second quarter, only to give up a 70 yard touchdown pass with :06 left on the clock. They lost 38-14. How can a team play so good at home one week, and the next play so bad?

So, why isn't this thread in the "Other Schools" forum? Simply: it proves that absolutely, positively anything can happen on the field on any given week. I submit this story to those of you who feel our Falcons are going to lose to Miami because of some perceptual "Whammy" or the fact that we have not won that "B!G" road game in a while. Yes, you may have history and statistics to substantiate your intuition, and good on ya for it! But, football is a whore of a game, and no matter what the historical record looks like, no team is ever assured of victory before a game starts. Chance is a diabolical vulture that circles every football stadium in the nation, my friends.

So what the hell is BO talking about? I'm not sure I know, but I guess the moral of the story, kids, is that we should never, ever, ever give up on a game, and especially this one. We have had a rough season, and so did Arizona prior pulling the biggest upset in nearly 40 years (ESPN said it, I didn't). But, we still have a title to play for. Arizona had absolutely nothing to play for besides pride. They were already bowl-ineligable. Our Falcons have much more to motivate them than the 'Cats did - a title and pride - and we know from the comments made by Seniors like Teddy and P.J. that the latter factor is very, very important to them.

Bottom line: don't give up on this team. If you can make it to Oxford - even if you have to hitchike - do it. Be loud. Be proud. I'm extremely jealous of those of you who get to go, and it is going to pain me to be completely powerless to actively support my school and my team as I watch the game on T.V. on Tuesday evening. Don't regret missing what could be one of the greatest victories in the history of BG football because you wrote them off. If you have, call and order tickets, pick them up at Will-Call on Tuesday and scream your lungs out in support of your team. I wish I could.

I think the Falcons can win this thing too, but it ain't gonna be easy. On paper, Miami is at least as good as BG (actually better even with Omar), and given the home field advantage plus this psychological barrier known as the "Wammy," BG will be hard put to survive unless they play their ultra best game of the year. I've seen Miami play twice, and their game gets exponentially better as the game progresses ---- they get especially tough the second half. ----- BG must stop the run and so far, they haven't had the speed to do it. Speed kills, and that's been BG's biggest problem.

I think, as I have stated before...BG will win. This is gonna be a highscoring game though, and there will prolly be injuries on both sides.

We most if not all of our injury problems out of the way for guys like PJ, Teddy P. and others. Hopefully the 10 day layoff helped Omar get even closer to being able to play and he must play for us to win, there's no if and's or buts about it.

I'm still waiting for AT to break out of his shell and show us that Spring Game skill.

With that said, Omar is at least 50% of our team, and it'll be hard (but not impossible) to win without him.

most of that is true. but lets not forget Arizona was only 7pt underdogs in that game, and i took them in 7pts thinking that they would lose by less than that or perhaps win.. (gasp)! but i was a bit surprised that it ended up 52-14, anyway BG has to prove that they can win games like Miami before everyone is going to believe it! if Omar plays i say we sneak out a "W" if Turner plays we get blown out
