It's close enough to game time to make a prediction. Sorry, but I have no logical reason to tell me that we will win this game.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. I don't think our current coaching staff has done very good at learning from their past mistakes in playing on the road, on a weeknight, on TV, so I am going to say:
BG 17
MU 42

As an aspiring historian, I will tell you that this statement is qualitatively untrue. History is, in fact, not something that should be learned from, but rather, a version of the past that should be massaged and reconfigured in the image of the beholder.Warthog wrote: Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Mind you, I am an evil historian...
In all reality, though, no matter what happens tomorrow, we will not be repeating anything. It will be the team that repeats anything, if anything is to be repeated, because they are the actors and we are the passionate observers. No one here risks anything by picking BG in this game, except the ability to say "I told you so" and declare oneself a sayer of sooth. That isn't very much fun, though.

RE: History
History: An account mostly false, of events mostly unimportant, which are brought about by rulers mostly knaves, and soldiers mostly fools. ~Ambrose Bierce,
On to BGSU-MU.
My heart screams Ay-Ziggy!!
My head whispers BG is on the road, they get little pressure on the QB, they don't play the run well, Miami is much better at field goal and the Redhawks have Rehage and Nande back at linebackers. Therefore I, gulp, pick Miami to win easily.
Both teams have under-achieved this year but it should still be a great game.
Go Falcons!

My heart and my head tell me that BG wins this game. I think our players/coaches are tired of under achieving. I believe that our players/coaches will leave everything on the field. I believe that our offense is good enough that even the return of their linebackers will not stop this offense. I believe Omar will be back and will look great as always. I believe that our defense will get more stops than their defense. I believe BG will redeem themselves and the offense will return to the Wisky dominance. I believe the defense will be consistent, as they were against Ohio and Kent. I believe this is the game where we shake the bad habit of poor play on t.v. and during the week. I believe that we haven't always played poor on the road and those losses were to a team that was simply better than ours (except UT). I believe we have the better team. I have believed this from day one and refuse to change my opinion. In the end, I BELIEVE!!!
GO BG!!!

Hmmm, that resonates with me for some reason ...BelieveNBG wrote:My heart and my head tell me that BG wins this game. I think our players/coaches are tired of under achieving. At halftime, Shane Montgomery forgoes a halftime speech to his players and goes into the stands to find BGorDeath. Finds him and says "I may be a prick, but I've got Tommy underwear and socks on, buddy." BGorDeath points out that it's a shame his socks and underwear have Tommy from Rugrats on them and calls him a prick.

Hey Warthog, that was going to be my prediction before I went with 42-14. The reason that I chose 14 instead of 17 is because I didn't know if Brandon would let the kicker try a field goal, and if he would, whether the kicker would make it. So, I went with 14.Warthog wrote:It's close enough to game time to make a prediction. Sorry, but I have no logical reason to tell me that we will win this game.

BTW guys, that pick is not a flame. If I had to bet money on some number, those would be the ones that I'd choose. In other news, the weather sounds like it may be horrible. This may neutralize the game a little more and take both teams' kicking and passing games out of the equation somewhat.
UT is listed in the 2004 edition of The Unofficial, Unbiased Guide to the 328 Most Interesting Colleges by Trent Anderson and Seppy Basili as one of the U.S. schools with the “Most Beautiful Urban Campus.”
