Awesome win tonight for BG, just awesome. We needed to play like champions and we did. I was hoping Ohio could have helped us, but it still doesn't take away from a great win. This one means so much because of the losing streak to Miami, our struggles to win the big MAC game (especially on the road), some of our national TV woes, etc. Just a great win tonight.
Now, as for the MAC East race, I know if we beat Toledo, we win the East and are on our way to the MAC Championship and likely to another bowl game. I believe we would also win the East if Kent State beat Akron (not likely to happen). I don't want to even think about it, but what I don't know is, if we were to lose to Toledo and Miami beat Ohio and Akron beat Kent State, it would cause a three-way tie for first again. If that were to happen, each team would cancel the other out with a win and a loss to each team, and I have no idea who would get the tie-break then. But what I do know for sure is, we can control our own destiny with a win over Toledo.
MAC East, still a three-team race
MAC East, still a three-team race
GO BG!!!

Can we not even have this conversation agian? I mean no offense at all, 33, but there have been many threads over the past couple of weeks about the tie-breaking scenarios in the MAC. The bottom line is that we need to beat Toledo. Period. Our team needs to focus solely on that, and vicariously, so do we.
BEAT TOLEDO!

I should have been more respectful. My appologies. I have just achieved maximum focus right now, I suppose.BGSU33 wrote:I was just curious if anyone knew it, that's all. It'll be in the papers and websites, etc., I just wondered if anyone knew what would happen.
Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the next line in the tie-breaker scenarios is OOC records, though I haven't seen those articulated yet for the teams in question.
I must reiterate, though - BEAT TOLEDO!

I agree 100%. Our focus has to be on beating Toledo. After all, we just beat Miami for the first time in 6 tries, or however many it is, to get to this point. I don't know about you guys, but I am feeling really good about the team's play. Now all we have to do is take out our rivals on our home field to advance to Detroit. Let's not think about the tiebreakers, because that is a losing mentality. This time, let's have the confidence that us, the Bowling Green Falcons, can pull out a big victory when we need it!Bleeding Orange wrote:Can we not even have this conversation agian? No. the race for the east is down to BGSU and Akron.
Akron needs us to loose to Toledo and they need to beat Kent to win.
If we lost to Toledo, and Akron beat Kent, and Miami won. Akron advances.
if we all loose, BGSU advances,
If miami wins and BG looses, and Akron looses, BG advances.
Frankly i would like to bellieve ESPN NEWs report that BG just clinched the East wil advance to the Championship game reguardless of any further games in the East.
again ESPn is missing some key data.

No worries....I know the best bet is to just beat Toledo, I was just wondering because I like to know what every angle is for BG....that's just me.
GO BG!!!
