It is my beleif that we are now eligible. We can at worst end up 6-5. THats a winning record and I beleive all you need to go to a bowl.
There are 28 bowls. 56 teams go.
By My count there are currently 49 teams eligible (including us).

OK, I couldn't help myself. Here's the bowl-eligibility picture as of 11/16, 11:45 a.m. In short, BGGrad01 is correct; there will be more than enough bowl-eligible teams, so the path to a bowl is clear for BG - win two more games.

MACMAN
MACMAN:
Thanks.
BTW, for those not interested in addition, my calculations have 62 teams eligible, meaning four teams would be home. Would a bowl take a second Sun Belt team over a MAC team? Maybe, maybe not.
But here's a little red flag ... the GMAC Bowl, which has a strong relationship with the MAC, includes the WAC among its conference affiliations. This was done, I'm told, in case La. Tech became bowl eligible. Well, guess who's eligible? Could make for some tense, interesting times over the next few weeks. 8)
Thanks.

I find it hard to beleive that if we are Bowl Eligible in any way and have a legitimate National Player of the Year Candidate that we won't be invited to showcase that player.
I also find it hard to beleive that there will be way more than enough teams eligible when last year there were 59 eligible teams for 56 spots.

Gfitch: Shoot. Thanks for catching my math error. No, you're correct, 28 bowls, hence, there will be SIX teams left out. You must figure that the four MAC teams and one SBC team would be first on the chopping block.Germainfitch1 wrote:Are there 29 bowls now?1987alum wrote:MACMAN:

1987, I was posting my post when you were yours. 3 extra teams certainly does not seem impossible from last year. Are MAC teams really the first on the chopping block. I hate that!
I wonder what a good website for Omar's Heisman campaing would have meant for overall notoriety and our goal of geting an at large bid to a bowl.

Probably not a helluva lot since he's been out due to an injury.Germainfitch1 wrote:I wonder what a good website for Omar's Heisman campaing would have meant for overall notoriety and our goal of geting an at large bid to a bowl.
Time to get off the Athletic Departments back about a heisman campaign.

You're right about the GMAC and La Tech. We've been hearing however a lot of scuddle about how much the GMAC wants Toledo down there to play. UT's game tonight will tell a lot though.1987alum wrote:MACMAN:

Edit: Also in that situation, if the GMAC takes La Tech, doesn't the MAC get a bowl game in it's place out west? I'm not sure but I think i remember hearing that somewhere.
