he's kicking tail for us... this blurb from our local sports radio columnist:
A month and a half ago, D’Arcy McConvey was preparing to move in as a new Idaho Steelhead. Move in he has, right into the captain’s role—and the now the role of leading scorer in the 25-team ECHL. McConvey made the top spot last night with a goal and two assists in the Steelheads’ 5-2 win at Victoria. The Steelies got out of the gates quickly for a change, with the 24-year-old forward tallying three minutes into the game. The victory ups Idaho’s record to 9-3 and keeps it two points up on Alaska and Utah in the ECHL West Division.

this is what sucks about the minor leagues... you lose your best players too quickly.

STEELHEADS MCCONVEY SEEING STARS

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads announced today that captain D’Arcy McConvey has been recalled to the team’s American Hockey League (AHL) Affiliate, Iowa Stars.

McConvey, coming off a three-point game in Idaho’s 5-2 win in Victoria, British Columbia last night leads the 25-team ECHL in scoring with 20 points (7goals, 13 assists).

Steelheads Head Coach Derek Laxdal said this morning from Victoria, “D'arcy has had a great start to the season, and he has earned the recall to the Iowa Stars. The team and I wish him the best of luck for his first professional game in the AHL.”

The 5’10”, 190-pound centerman is in his second professional season having played 60 games with the ECHL’s Columbia Inferno last season (23 goals, 31 assists) and earning the Inferno’s Rookie of the Year. He was traded to the Inferno after four games with the Reading Royals. Prior to turning professional, 24-year-old McConvey received numerous honors over four-years with Bowling Green State University, including Captain of his 2003-04 team, 2004 Jack Gregory Scholar-Athlete Award, 2004 Dr. Ron Zwierlein Leadership Award, 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-American, and 2003 Captain and Team MVP. The Richmond Hill, Ontario native was also named to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) All-Academic Team in 2002-03 and Team MVP of his junior hockey team, the Wexford Raiders (OPJHL), in 1999-2000.

McConvey is currently on an AHL contract with the Stars and had been reassigned to Idaho following Iowa’s training camp on October 5th. The Iowa Stars and the Idaho Steelheads are the minor league affiliates of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Dallas Stars.

The Steelheads remain in Victoria to complete a three-game series on Friday and Saturday nights. The “Battle of the Fish” can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1350 KTIK The Ticket both nights at 8:05 pm MST with voice of the Steelheads, Joe O’Donnell, calling all the action.

Idaho returns home to take on the expansion Utah Grizzlies on November 25th and 26th at Qwest Arena

Good for D'Arc!

I'm sorry that you're losing him, but then again I'm not because it means he's moving up.

Thanks for the info. If he gets sent back down to Idaho, keep it coming!

Way to go D'arcy!
I had a feeling he wouldn't be in Boise long.

Remember...it's not heaven, it's Iowa.

1boisebro, thanks for the updates. I'm glad you enjoyed watching D'Arcy. Perhaps he'll be in Dallas before we all know it.
