As an official member of the BGSU spirit tradition, I can safely tell you that Snakeman was NOT a member of sic sic!!!

I could be wrong -- actually, I'm not -- the Snakeman thing started because he looked like Blue from Old School.

At first he was a novelty act. Then it got real old, real quick. he started showing up everywhere, and while I've been gone for a year and a half, it seems as though it's only gotten worse.

I'll be back in town for UT game...Maybe I'll kick his ass then.

You are wrong. He was around and called Snake Man before old school.

Interesting. You've been around, so you'd know better than me. All I know is he showed up one day at the bar when I was a junior -- previously unbeknownst to me, and I was a bar rat -- and never left.

But like I said, you'd know better than me.

My dad recalls meeting him for the first time at the Las Vegas Bowl in 1992.

He has been around that long, at least.

I don't think he has ties to BGSU (ie didn't attend the U or send kids there) but he is just a fan because that is where he lives, you gotta love that.

As the license plate on his truck says, his name is Snakeman, not Blue.

I first noticed him in 1991 or 1992...I remember thinking "what's the story with that goof in the snake hat?".

That could be the title of his biography....

That's correct, ironmike.

A buddy of mine interviewed him a few years ago when Urban was in charge. He lives in a mobile home community somewhere, I'm guessing Portage, from what others are saying. His wife worked (works?) for the University and got tickets to the games and he just started going and he has been to just about every one.

All this people that are thinking this Old School stuff are plain wrong.

I think the "Old School" references come from the fact that Snakeman does (or at least used to) show up at house parties. I was at several parties that he crashed during my years at BG, and I did in fact witness him doing a keg stand at one of them.

Seriously.

the old school references come from the fact that he does indeed crash college parties all the time. most of us didn't have a clue as to who he was, so everyone just started calling him "blue" after the old school character.

and as far as i know, his wife either used to be or still is a professor at the university. i'm sure she is proud to hear all the stories of her husband, aka the town drunk, snakeman, or blue, whichever you prefer.
