Good to see BG bounce back. How good is N Michigan? Just curious as I haven't been able to follow a whole lot of hockey right now.

Miami up next. 3-7-1, 3-5-1 CCHA. Would be sweet to take 2 next weekend.

NMU

Northern is pretty good this season..they return a lot of their frontliners and have that deep defensive core of theirs back with Oystrick, Waugh, and now converted forward Jamie Milam. They had a tough 4 games prior to playing us where they got swept by Michigan State and Michigan, but they were on a good roll to begin the season. Seem to still be looking for a goalie after Tarkki left though.

Although Oystrick is a goon... (I, nor many others will be forgetting his exploits last night for a long, long time).

Seriously, though, I was on a plany during the game on Friday, but from the looks of the game last night, NMU has some SERIOUS netminder issues! Both goalies they played last night looked like they just didn't give a sh*t to me, which is sad when they no doubt were schooled under a guy like Tarrki (too lazy to look up Zamboni's [sic] status).

Anyhow, it was great to hear that horn so much last night!

You know, if you feel a pathological need to turn every BG sports thread in the direction of Oxford, perhaps you should stick to MHT.

Oystrick is a punk. I bet he wears ladies underwear. I think Zamboni was deaf though. He never did answer me. The first was the craziest hockey period I've ever seen as far as scoring goes. We only missed on one scoring opportunity while putting every other chance in the back of the net. Horrell was as solid as he needed to be and gives us the best chance to win this year.

The only negative I saw was the fact that 3 of NMU's goals came within a minute of us scoring. That's a mental problem more than a hockey problem. The young guys will need to learn to tighten the screws after a goal to keep momentum or else the better teams will take advantage.

Good win and a great game to watch.

While I agree with most of your points on Horrell, I felt he was letting a lot of rebounds out in that game. What can I say though, if you're defense is there to clear out the rebounds and clear the traffic in front, then you're much more apt to make the stops.

I thought most of the team played very well and bounced back after a bad loss Friday. I wasn't surprised to see some changes in the lineup and I think that it was a smart decision by Paluch and company. Sitko can make the big hit, but sometimes his aggressiveness can put us at a disadvantage either via penaly or over commiting on a player.

Lastly, once again I was happy to see BG bounce back and dominate the play early, but we have to be able to pick up more points in our weekend series.

That being said, Go BG.... Beat the Redskins! :D

Edit: One last thing I noticed was a lot of NMU's goals seemed to be scored getting Horrell to go side to side. Obviously this is a hard stop for any goalie and I dont' fault him for that. But our defense needs to cut down the passing lanes on those cross ice passes so the breaking wing man doesn't jam in that easy goal on the far side.
