The USA Today Bowl Projection for monday

Post by MACMAN »

Well the USA Today bowl projections are as good as anyones at this point. the variations are nearly nonexistant. I can say that to play virgina would be a great game.
So lets get on with it, kick the s**t out of Toledo!!!!!!

I'm showing my ignorance here I know but bear with me :D I thought the Motor City bowl was supposed to be with a MAC team and a Big Ten team. When did Virginia get in the Big Ten??

If the Big Ten get two teams into the BCS bowls then they wouldn't have enough to fill the spot. I would love to see OSU play Notre Dame in a BCS game but I don't think it will happen. Minnesota to the Motor City bowl versus the Falcons.

As stated, the MCB is at the bottom of the Big Tenleven bowl pecking order. Two BCS berths means that there will likely not be a Big Tenleven team available for the MCB, hence it becomes an at-large bid.

BTW, I know a lot of folks get upset about the prospect of the MCB not having a Big Tenleven team available, but despite the "agreement" between the MCB and the conference, the Big Tenleven has only sent a team to Detroit once. Given the outcome of that particular game, who knows if they'll ever want to come back. :wink:

I think the Motor City would next look to the Big East -- but it isn't clear whether that league would have an extra team, either.

If we could get Virginia as an at-large -- that would be very, very good.

Especially since Western played them so tough earlier in the year. If our team is playing well, Virginia could be a very good game.

I like a BG - Virginia matchup a lot better than BG-Minnesota. Those Gophers know how to run the ball. :shock:

You got that right. The thought of us trying to slow down the Minnie running game is one scary thought.

BG-Va would be a great matchup.

If Va Tech does not win their conference title OSU is garunteed. as of right now Also, in the SEC LSU has to make the conference title game and i believe Auburn has the slight edge in the SEC West. They would pick OSU (a conference chmpion) over LSU who would not be, even though they have just 1 loss. but LSU also has 1 less game played and a head to head over Auburn. they will have to play georgia in the title game who is not and still would not be ahead of OSU. in the BCS. Go Bulldogs!

OSU would not go over Notre Dame because they are such a big story this year. I wouldn't imagine anyways. BUT, OSU would bring more revenue to the city of whatever bowl game they would get...more fans to travel, etc...so it is possible, but Notre Dame is the only team OSU would not get picked over...i think since miami lost, Notre Dame is in a garunteed BCS bowl now anyways.

Oregon has no shot...nobody cares aboout em outside oregon, nobody wants to see oregon nationally, forget it.

I say there is a 70% chance OSU is in a BCS bowl...they would have to be the top at large selection that will be left...Notre dame counts as at large since there is no conference for them. Notre Dame v. OSU Orange bowl

i'll be there

Here's my take on the BCS. USC and Texas will win their conferences and play for the National Championship. LSU will win their conference unless they get upset by Georgia in the SEC Championship, in which case Georgia will go instead. Same thing in the ACC, where Virginia Tech will go unless they are upset by Florida State in the ACC Championship in which case the Seminoles will go instead. The Big East will only get one bid also, and it will likely be West Virginia (unless South Florida upsets them in which case they would go, talk about sad). This pretty much opens it up for the #2 team from the big ten, which is Ohio State. Having lost to 2 of the top 4 teams in the country, OSU should get an at-large.

The only question to me right now is who will get the final bid. Is it gonna be Notre Dame or is it gonna be Oregon? Oregon deserves it a lot more than Notre Dame since their record is better, 10-1 to 9-2, and one of Notre Dame's losses came against a team with a losing record at home.

Big East = West Virginia
Big Ten = Penn State
SEC = LSU
ACC = Virginia Tech
Big 12 = Texas
Pac-10 = USC
At Large = Ohio State and Oregon

If the BCS leaves out Notre Dame ... I'll eat a bug.
