BG's getting an Orange field after the SAC???

Post by bgbrandon »

We all know that the Doyt needs some improvement and it is beginning to! The one thing I thing may be cool would get the Nike turf, not necessarily because I dont like grass, but towards the season's end, the grass just looks terrible and if we are going to start getting our game with turdledo televised each year, we need to have a nice field in late november. The thing I was thinking about would be installing Orange Turf with Brown field markings. Yes, it would be copying off of Boise States Blue field but I think it would be intimidating to play on and people would recognize BG nationally for our Orange field. Similarly to how Boise St. began to be recognized. I understand that we are very well known nationally but I think this would be really cool. Maybe Im just a crazy fool but I was wondering what other people would think about this... therefore I created a Poll!

Lately, I have seen some great looking fields on TV. I think the new style artificial stuff looks perfect. Heck, one of the high schools in the Cleveland area (Rocky River) just installed the stuff. Looks and feels awesome. I think it was $800,000.00 not sure. I don't think an entire orange field would fly, however I like your thought process. Maybe all orange end zones.

Let's be honest, although our field looks great for an all grass field and for the weather conditions the grounds guys have to work with, but on TV our field looks bad. Really bad. I think the new stuff is the way to go.

Im from Columbus, well a suburb there (Dublin) and all three of the Dublin High Schools just installed the field turf in their fields. Talk about a nice thing to do for high schools!!

Nothing the BGSU football program could do would upset me more than getting rid of the natural turf.

NOTHING.

Not changing the color scheme, not changing the logo, not signing Gary Blackney to come back as HC, not a 30 game losing streak.

NOTHING.

I hate that new field turf crap almost as much as the old school astroturf. Its softer and causes less injuries, but it sure seems as though players slip on it a lot more than real grass.

Football is made to be played in dirt, mud, and grass. During any weather conditions. I hate watching games that are played on artificial surface, I've always been proud to say (at least since OSU switched back) that my favorite teams all played on a natural surface, and I want to keep it that way!

Wow. You do feel strong about it. I respect that. I just like the nice clean look the new stuff gives.

By the way, if you really had the choice between New Turf and changing the colors to Green and White or Blue and Yellow, I bet you would probably take the turf???????

Go BG!

Why doesn't it surprise me that Dublin schools are able to afford that?

Not really impressed with the turf...yeah it's easier to maintain but like hammb said its slick and feels nothing like grass.

I've seen UT's Useless Turf, and it looks like a balding space alien.

Still, orange turf.........

Lets get really wild, how about alternating Brown and Orange stripes!

Keep the grass. I'm sure Doyt Perry would be spinning in his grave at the thought of the field that bears his name being tarted up like some french whore...

Grass, all grass, and nothing but grass (the green stuff), so help me God. Anything else is an abomination.
