i sure hope not... but if they win then i guess they are more deserving in some respects...
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!
Our defense sucks. They were caught asleep during the first OT. In the second, the DB watches the TE run at him, around him, then turns to watch the RB who doesn't have the ball. Only then does he turn around and run after the wide-open TE. Against UT who uses the TE like a rented mule.
And the brown jerseys? I seem to recall we last wore those in 1995 against UT, at home, on TV, and lost that game too. I think they got worn a couple of times after that, but thats a lesser point.
The defense didn't show, some would argue it was UT being "so good" but the evidence suggests otherwise. The offense showed but stalled at the end of the 4th and in the second OT.
We could get lucky and Kent could win, but the odds are very much against it. NIU will most likely win over WMU at 1:30 p.m. (ESPN2.) So the overall result is that both teams will stay home for the post season. If hell freezes over, we might actually wind-up playing UT again in a matter of days. But why bother hoping.
I think there is a reason Brandon hasn't been hired away already, and we are seeing some of it this year. As good as this team ought to be, it isn't. I think there will be a lot of questions asked during this off-season about almost everything related to the coaching staff. It really goes beyond this game. All things being equal only Miami's utter failure to show-up last week leaves us with a winning season. And this program was a matter of a few snaps away from having a very bad losing season.
There are questions that need answers, and the standard "it is what it is" and "we've got to get better at that" aren't going to cut it. I start to wonder if the coaches have the answers or if they are just hoping the team plays better the next week.

Akron has to win the MAC to go to a bowl, IMO. Even if they make it and lose, we are a more marketable team with Omar at QB. But in all honesty, I think Toledo and the winner of the NIU-Western game gets the two MAC bowl bids.
